Public Invited Good Films State Representatives to Speak Lehi Wildlife Assn Meeting Officials Study Flood Control 'Mom F. A. For Canyon Project Planning work on the proposed flood control project for American Fork Canyon and Boxelder Peak above Alpine is continuing under the supervision of the Soil Conservation Service and Forest Service, while efforts are being made to work out a plan agreeable to all interests involved. Mayor Frank Sharp attended a meeting Saturday on the problem as a representative of Lehi City and Lelu Irrigation company, ne reports that no actual work on the project will be done at the present time, although the a. and Forest Service engineers are at work on the engineering data which will be submitted to Con gress in an effort to obtain federal c aid. The Dlan will involve restor ation of the watersheds and flood control measures to prevent the flash floods which have been occuring more frequently in the spring and fall and causing extensive damage in the region. Sheep and cattlemen who use the area feel they may be hurt by being prevented from using the area tor one or two years while and control work is underway. Many parties are involved in the including the proposed project, stockmen, communities and irrigation companies of North Utah County which receive their water from that source, mining claim owners, summer home owners, and others. The S. C. S. will perfect the plans and will coordinate the proposals of all persons involved in an effort to work out a plan acceptable to all. Speakers at Saturday's meeting included Harry K. Woodward, S. C. S. economist; A. J. Webber, member of the S. C. S. state planning commitee, and James Jacobs, Forest Service supervisor. Mr. Woodard is on the planning committee for watersheds in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. Additional meetings will be called by the S. C S. and Forest Service as the plans progress, and engineers will estimate the cost to parties involved. If federal aid is approved, the government will on all forest land. pay one-ha- lf The S. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p. m. in the Lehi Elementary School auditorium, and all members of the three organizations, as well as other interested persons, are urged to attend. Dr. J. C. Moffitt, superintendent of the Provo School District, will be the guest speaker, and is expected to talk on a subject of interest to both parents and teachers. Dr Moffitt is second of the Board of Managers, Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers. Music for the evening will be furnished by the popular Chan-tant- e Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Franklin Madsen of the B. Y. U. music department. It is interesting to note that the Chan-tant-e chorus was originally organized under sponsorship of the P. T. A. In the fall of 1936, Mrs. Sadie Adams, then president of the P. T. A., asked Mrs. June Jorgensen to aid in organizing a P. T. A. chorus. The musical group was started in February, 1937, and for nine years has furnished music for numerous public and private gatherings, and has er er vice-preside- nt With the eyes of both coaches turned toward a berth in the State "B" Basketball Tourney, the Pioneers of Lehi, who are now the titular team in the Alpine Division of Region Three and the American Fork Cavemen, who are tied with three schools for a second place rating, will meet in a crutial cage contest, Friday, February 10. The tussel should prove to be a sizzler, as the Forkers were defeated 51-4- 2 by the Pioneers in the first game of the season. Both Lehi and A. F. are traditional rivals and both are prepared for a battle, with the statistics there to back up the theory. On paper, it looks like this: Lehi defeated the Cavemen, but the following week fell to B. Y. High; on the other hand, A.F. was outscored by the Pion eers, but triumphed over the B.Y. squad. To sum it up, it looks close. Although Coach Russell Hill- man's scrappy Pioneers will have the advantage of playing on their own floor, they face a shortage of height, which has been compensated for, in part, by their hustle and teamwork in circit victories this season. The game will begin at 8:00 p. m. with the Jayvee's tussel sch eduled for 6:30. The use of this devise, as a part of your central heating or air conditioning system, will materially reduce the daily chore of house cleaning and dusting. It will keep curtains, drapes and walls clean and fresh, not for months, but for years. Recently one of our customers, for whom we installed an Electrostatic air cleaner about five years ago, showed us an immaculate living room in which no cleaning of walls, ceilings, drapes or curtains had been done in that length of time. In addition to a clean, fresh house, the Electrostatic air cleaner is a blessing to sufferers of hay fever and asthma. We have cases of our own experience where people of these afflictions, living in a house with an Electrostatic air cleaner, receive almost complete relief during such suffering, as long as they remain in the clean comfortable atmosphere provided in such a home. This unit can be part of any year around air conditioning system, or it may be added to your present central heating.
