Mr. Taylor said that, under the proposed agreement, the veterans would lease their ball park prop erty to the school during school hours, and the school would lease nt its property to the veterans during other hours of the day. The school board would be responsible for maintaining the ball diamond and grounds, while the veterans would care for the grandstands. The Legion will solicit the opinion of veteran and civic groups before going ahead with this agreement and with the final decision on the location of the park. Mr. Taylor pointed out that the ball park committee has obtained options on two pieces of property, either of which would be suitable for a ball park. One is the Webb Zimmerman property south of the school grounds which, with a portion of the school property, would be sufficient for a full-siz- e diamond and grandstands. The other piece of property is located outside of town on the Saratoga Road. The problem of maintenance is one of great concern to the ball If a site other park committee. than the school site is selected, Mr. Taylor pointed out that the veterans may ask Lehi City to take over the park and maintain It Committee , members indicate they will solicit the advice of the American city, civic groups, Legion members and veterans. One deterrent in the selection of the school grounds site may be the possibility of the land's being flooded this year by water from Dry Creek Irrigation canal which runs through the school property. Some criticism has been voiced by Lehi residents over the installation of four-fopipe to ot carry the irrigation water through the schol property. Irrigation officials have indicated that they recommended the installation of six or eight-fopipe at the time the project was being planned. In a statement Wednesday, D. R. Mitchell, superintendent of the Alpine School district, declared that the school board had installed the size pipe recommended by the city engineer. He further pointed out that this is an exceptional year as far as the spring runoff is concerned, and cannot in any ot way be classified as "normal."
