APRIL 28, 1950 of New Third Architect's Sketch NUMBER Ward Chapel COMMITTEE TO ERECT HISTORICAL MARKER APPOINTED Garn Holbrook has been designated as chairman of the committee to erect a marker in memory of the settlement of Lehi in the fall of 1850 at Snow mile south Springs, of the Orval Stone residence, according to Dr. W. L. Worlton, centennial committee head. The committee voted unanimously to erect the marker. John G. Giles, secretary of the Utah Trails and Landmark Association, was present and explained the plans and purposes of the organization. President George Albert Smith, who is also head of the Association, has approved the plan and will join in the ceremonies during the week of the centennial, Dr. Worlton indicated. A highway monument will give a brief history of the settlement. Historians will recall that a temporary encampment was made by the early settlers at the site of the old rodeo grounds. Mayor George W Leany and a Orval Stone are working committee with the county and state road officials to clear the road to the spring and make provision for a parking area near the site of the marker. Other members of the committee are John Hutchings, T. F. Kirk-haStanley Clark, and Alma Peterson.
