CHARLES DECK DIES IN SALT LAKE CITY Charles Beck, 74, Lehi native, and employee of the Deseret News until his retirement 6 years ago, died suddenly luesday morning at the home of a son, Charles Asher Beck, president of the Joseph William Taylor Memorial mortuary. He had been in very good health. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12: 15 p. m. at 125 North Main by Mark E. Peterson, member of the LDS council of twelve apostles. Burial will take place in the Lehi cemetery at 2 p. m. Mr. Beck was born in Lehi, December 27, 1874, a son of George and Annie Johnson Beck. He was educated in Lehi, and lived here until moving to Salt Lake City, 28 years ago. He married Anne Biddlecome in Lehi, February 14, 1896. She died October 28, 1943. He was a member of the Seventeenth Ward in Salt Lake City. He is a brother to Mrs. Robert Allred, Lehi. Survivors include five sons and one daughter: Charles Asher and Willard Beck, Salt Lake City; Fred A., Alvin and Lawrence Beck, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Clarence F. (Ruby) Grant, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Melvin Beck, Clearfield, and Ray Beck, Draper; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Allred, Lehi, and Mrs. Mable Allred, Long Beach, California; also 16 grandchildren and , 6 FAREWELL TONIGHT FOR GEORGE RICKS The dump truck purchase was authorized to enable the street department to more efficiently build up and take care of Lehi's streets. Mayor Coates reports that city officials are working with the Utah State Municipal League to finance a program covering city officials with a pension plan. The Garden Club was granted permission to use a part ol the City park for a rose garden. The garden will probably be located in a sunny spot north of the grandstand. This project will get under way this fall, accord ing to Mayor Coates. The City Council unanimously voted to express to the Garden Club the City's appreciation for the several city beautification programs which the Garden Club has recently sponsored.
