The annual carrolling, in which all members of the community join in singing the favorite carols of Yuletide tradition, is being sponsored by the schools, church, and community. Sacrament meetings in all wards will commence at 6:30 p. m. for this occasion, and will close at 8 p. m. allowing time for those in attendance to join the rest of the community at the tabernacle in time for the song fest, which will last for one hour. From 8:15 until 8:30, while the citizens are assembling in the tabernacle, Christmas music will be played by the high school orchestra. Singing of carols will begin promptly at 8:30, and will be interspersed with three short special numbers, including a chorus, a choir, and brief tableau. Prominent music directors of the community will lead the caroll ing. Words to the songs will be distributed. A special feature of this year's carolling, will be the accompani ment of the carols by the new tabernacle organ, with Georgia Ziegler, stake organist, at the console. Orchestra accompani ment, sometimes augmented by pianos and organ, have been used in previous years. This annual song fest, begun four years ago by a group of music leaders, representing all parts of the community, together with the schools and church, has become tradition in Lehi. The entire communtiy, from the youngsters to the elder members, join in an hour of tinging these happy songs, which have come down to us through the centuries. Those who have participated have expressed that the singing of this joyful music has enrich ed the hope and Joys of the Christmas, season. Frank W. The bid of the Tolboe and Harlin Construction Company, Provo, Utah, for construction of the American Fork Elementary School was accepted after certain deductions were approved by the Architect, the Board of Education, and the Contractor. The bid, as accepted, was $424,489.00. This building is costing about $11.70 per square foot and is about an 11 per cent increase in the cost is compared with the Geneva Elementary School at Orem, Utah; the bid upon which was let July 1, 1948. This increase in cost is represented en. tirely by the raise in prices of materials and labor. The cost per square foot on this school is less than similar buildings in Salt Lake City, the Granite School Ditrict, and Provo City. Tolboe and Harlin are planning to start construction immediately and hope to have the building completed by the next school year. The Board of Education rejected the bid of $34,941.00 on the addition to the School Board Administration Building at American Fork, Utah, as being entirely too high.
