Joan Evans, Joyce Singleton, and Shirley Fowler, the cheer3, leaders for put in a lot of work by making up new yells and actions, and getting outfits for football and basketball games. This award is given to the ! I Joanne Joyce girl graduate excelling in scholarship and activity during her .three years in senior high school. Miss Adamson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd B. Adamson, of the yearbook this is year, having served on the staff of both the yearbook and school paper for two years. She was sophomore class a member of the Senior Hop committee, secretary of the Mask and Gavel club, a member of the FHA, GAA (the school pep club) and Camera club, and was a banner carrier for the posture parade in her sophomore yeav, She has been on the honor rolt for three years. She has been a member of both band and orchestra for three years. Miss Adamson has been very active in debating and speech, she and her partner won First Place in the Weber College debating tournament in 1947. She won a superior rating on her retold story at the Alpine speech arts festival this yea. Allred was declared valedictorian of the 1948 graduating class of the Lehi. High SchooL Mr., Allred also won the coveted Lions club award, given annually by the Lehi Lions club. The valedictorian is the student in receiving highest honors scholarship and citizenship during his three years of senior high school attendance. The Lions award is given annually to the graduating boy who excells in scholarship and activities. Mr. Allred has made a very apable president of the student body this year. He is very active in athletics and was on the basketball team this year, on the tennis team two years, and manager one year. He has been on the footbll team two years actthis year. ing as In his Junior year he was Junior Prom chairman, president of the Mask and Gavel club, and member of the yearbook staff. He served three years on the staff of the school paper, and is member of the band. Bob is also very active hi speech and debate. He won high ratings all three years that he entered 'in the regional speech festivals, this year he came out on top again with a superior rat. ing in dramatic readings. He participated in the school plays his sophomore and junior year and had the male lead in both the senior play and the school play his senior year. He has been a member of the school's debat ing team for two years, both years he and his partner have taken first place in the region meet. This year he and Nadine Jones, his debate partner, took 4th place in the state meet from ain of humor, which many a student has come to appreciate. For a number of years, he worked in close association with members of the yearbook staffs, being in charge of photographic work in earlier editions; thus, it is indeed fitting, that the 1948 issue of "The Lehision" should be dedcated to him. From Nadine Jones was named salutatorian of the 1948 graduating class of the Lehi High School. The salutatorian is the student receiving second highest honors in scholastic achievement, and is awarded according to scholarship and citizenship during her three years of senior high schoot. Miss Jones, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Jones is very active in both debate, and speech. She and her debate partner took first place in the Weber State Meet in her junior year. On the Sophomore initiation, too, the Seniors made a change. Instead of having an unorganized initiation where half of the Sophomores didn't get any initiation, and the rest got it the Seniors had the double; initiation in the lunchroom of the high school, and every Junior and Senior helped with it. Near- every Sophomore was initi ated and everyone agreed it was s eany the yearbook this year and a member of, year book and paper staffs ast year. She is a member of the speech club, and has played in the school band and orchestra. She was member of the FHA home economics club in her sophomore year. She is secretary of the senior class.
