At the general session at 10:30 a. m. Sunday, the Fifth ward chorus furnished a number of musical selections. Musk was under the direction of Keith Erickson. Invocation was by Ernest Peterson, after which four departing missionaries, Keith Peterson, Kelsey Chatfield, Wayne Goates and Donald Cook gave short talks. Stake mission President Boyd Holmstead, addressed the meeting, discussing "Missionary Work and Opportunities in our Stake." Stake President Herman C. Goates spoke on "Seriousness of Keeping the Marriage Covenant" Bruce Nostrom presented a vocal solo, then Antoine R. Ivins spoke on "Repentencc and Forgiveness." Benediction was given by Duane Woffinden. The second general session Sunday was held at 2 p. m. and opened with the congregation singing "Come.Come, Ye Saints." Invocation was offered by "Raymond H. Stewart. The First ward n choir under the direction of Fox furnished music for this session. General and stake authorities were then presented for sustaining vote by Dale Hadfield, stake clerk. Lu Jean Peterson, accompanied by Phyllis Fox, sang a soprano solo. First speaker of the meeting was Frank Jones of the stake presidency who talked on the subject "Missionary Work" A. Carlos Schow, spoke on "Keep ing the Commandments of the Ru-lo- ten fkiss, ten, Utah Forgotten Inventor t.rm 1947 Charles Stephenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Maiben Stephenson, returned to his navy base in San Diego, Sunday, after visiting here over the week end with his par- Lord," and Byron 3. Whipple, representing the new council of Seventies, discussed the "Work of the Seventy in the Stake." H. W. Barnes and Arvil O. Stone, members of the High Council spoke on "Our Responsibilities in Living the Gospel,'' and "Family and Secret Prayer," respectively. Vernon K. NieLson, also a member of the High Council talked of the "Importance and Values of Missionary Work." The Cedar Valley ward trio sang, then Mr. Ivins gave the concluding address, "The Elements of Moral Living." Benediction was offered by Ernil M. Cook. services Regular sacrament were held in the various wards, Sunday evening, as the regular conference program sponsored by the MIA was held the pre- ceeding Sunday when President George Albert Smith was guest speaker. The August home missionary report meeting was held last Fri day evening at the home of Mrs. Alice Stice. Reports of all missionaries in the field were made at the well attended meeting. Mrs. Lettie Gudmundsen re turned Monday from a two week trip through Bryce and Zion can yons, Los Angeles, Yosemite park Sequoia park and San Francisco, returning via Nevada. Mrs. Gudmundsen accompanied her son, Stanley Gudmundsben and family of Salt Lake.
