"Maritana," the title role sung by Lu Jean Peterson, is one of . heaviest attempted by high fcool students, yet is accomp-Jhe- d at various functions, Miss Petereasily and effectively, ac- - son, in one eight -- day period, made 13 separate appearances. Her pervious musical experience includes the lead of three operas, one the Pacific College summer production of the "Old Maid and the Thief." Opposite Miss Peterson is Donl Peterson, another talented musician who adds his rich baritone voice to round out the well cast production. Also active in musi cal circles, Donl has played the base horn in orchestras for the past six years, is a member of the boys quartet and sang the male lead in last year's opera. Dale Hadfield was appointed as stake clerk. Mr. Goates, together with the retiring presidency, were the original officers of the stake when it was formed on July 1, 1928. At that time, the original Alpine stake, composed of 18 wards was divided into three separate and individual stakes. The old Alpine stake ' embrased Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Alpine, Lehi and Cedar Valley and was presided over by Stephen L. Chipman, president and counse lors Abel John Evans and James H. Clark.
