The Music Department at high under the direction of Mr. Shaw, is very busy these days as they are in the final reheearsals for the high school opera, which will be presented March 26 for parents and patrons. Miss Conder is also workng hard with her dancing class so that they will be able to present the auhentic dances for the opera. Can you picture an old castle with heavy stone walls iron gates, and ghosts galore, "somewhere in Normandy" and an old bell tower, too, the bells of which respond only when the lost heir appears and he does appear ((in the third act)? Yes, it is the coming opera being spoken of "The Chimes of Normandy", wih all its apt dia logue, lilting lyrics, effective cos tumes, and authentic dances. Does your imagination feature Laura Jeanne Brown as Serpollette, the village mischief maker, Maurice Taylor as Henri, the dashing young count who return to claim his estate, Geo Christensen as Ger maine, the long lost Marchioness, and Harold Giles as Greenicheux, the fisherman? They weave one of the most entic ing stories to be found in the literature of modern opera. Plan now to reserve this date for the coming presentation of this opera. school, 37 i- r' , TSEBWAttSIMCUY twAi CUFF ma Sunday and Monday March 7 and 8 Sh ,lcdy r (V i pnmknt IWDtUIW Walter i with MORGAN FRANK Directed by Richard Thorn Produced by Victor ffaWIU Also Good Short Subjects Matinee Sun. 4 p. m. The OPA is highly pleased with the successful distribution of War Ration Book Two in Lehiand throughout the state, according to word sent by H. Grant Ivans, OPA state dircetor, to V. H. Peterson, chairman of Lehi War Price and Rationing Board. Mr. Ivins statement emphasized particularly the great value of the service given by thousands of patrioticv olunteers throughout the state, including school teachers who carried on the regstration after completing their regular day's work. It emphasized also the splendid co op eration given by the press in print ing the consumer s declaration form and in carrying eductional infor mation to assist the public to un derstand the point rationing sys tern. Consumers are cautioned to use their point stamps carefully now that the program is actually under way. It was pointed out that the 48 points allowed each person must last a full thirty-ondays and since point values are necessarily high, housewives may unwittingly use up their points at a faster rate than they realize. The result of this "overspending" would be to create a family shortage toward the end of the month insofar as ability to buy rationed foods is concerned It was pointed out, aso, that the recent price ceilings placed on eight fresh vegetables including toma toes, peas, carrots, cabbage, wax and green beans, lettuce and spin ach, will be very helpful to the housewife as it will ir.lure against prices on these commod ities on which the housewife must necessarily depend since the use of canned vegetables is greatly curtailed. The local board chairman called attention to the fact that recent changes in the tire rationing regulations make it unnecessary for in dividuals who wish to have their tires recapped to make application to the board. All that is necessary now is to go to the recapper and arrange for the service. e run-awa- y VMJ0HNS01 EUOtl Also Selected AMERICAN FORK Short Subjects D. U. P.
