Form 1040A. This is a simplified report, which may, at the option of the taxpayer who makes his return on he cash basis, be filed instead of form 1040 by citizen and residents whose gross income was $3,000 or less during 1942, provided all this income consists wholly of one or more of the following: salary, wages, dividends, interest, or annuities. In usinig this form it is necessary only to enter the amount of gross income as shown, deduct the credit allowable for dependents, and insert the appropriate amount of tax in accordance with one's personal exemption status, as shown on the table on the reverse of the form. This form has no entries for deductions allowable, since the axes indiciated in the table on the back of the form are computed after taking into account what have been considered average deductions for persons of this income class. A taxpayer should, therefore, consider carefully which form would be appropriate for his purposes. Whichever form is employed all the information called for in the spaces should be inserted so WE PRINT BUTTER WRAPPERS Get down to earth! Yes, he's very much a good friend of ours, in fact we see him He only lives every other day. about 10 minutes away and he was here today, too. My name is Violet Palacua and I'm sure Sidney has told you about our pach home where he once lived. He's told us a lot about his innumerable cousins and there have been many a laugh over some of the funny incidents he's told on his cousins. We found out that he's a very good harmonica player ana so we usually get together, I on the piano, he on his harmonica, my brother on the ukulele, and my boy friend on the mandolin. We have some swell times together. This last Sunday, they paid us a visit after visiting, I mean attending the Mormon Church in a neighboring village and they (Ray, a friend and Sidney) were caught in a very heavy downfall of rain. Mother insisted that they have luncheon here and finally they did We managed to get them to spend the rest of the day with us and after supper they left after a very reluctant goodbye. My mother knows quite well how much you both miss Sidney and she's trying (so am I) her very best to keep him from getting homesick. Now that Christmas and New Year's are rolling around there should be a flurry of doing but we noticed that hardly any of the people are doing very much Christmas shopping. It's more "war work' and "war bonds'' for everybody, it seems. But you should see the boys that are, buying gifts for their loved ones at home. It isn't strange to see a soldier trying a srurt on a sales girl much to his embarrass ment and hers! After the war we are planning a trip to the United States if such a trip is possibile after this war. hink by that time, I will be through at least 2 of my years in the uni versity so then I will be able to continue my education in the states. It's been very pleasant, this "chat" with the home folks and I know you're glad to know that Sidney is well and missing you all very much. So until I hear from you all, it's Alaho from my family and me and of course, Sidney. Yours sincerely, Violet Palauea. forms are designated for corporuusts ations, for partnerships, for nonresident for and fiduciaries, and aliens. Farmers who keep no books of account on the accrual method must attach a special schedule to their return (Form 1040F). For Individuals, two forms are used, depending upon the amount and source of income to be reported. Form 1040. This form is intended for general use of individuals who are citizens of the United States, or residents in this country, whether citizens or not. It contains spaces to show the amount of income from various sources, deduc-- i tions allowable, exemptions and credits, and computation of tax, liabiility. As most of the items require some explanation in order to be allowable, the form also contains approppriate schudles to show in more detail how the income or the deductions are determined.
