Real Estate Drops Increases also were shown in improvement and in livestock, but real estate as a whole recorded a Real estate as.slight decrease. sessed as city and town lots increased $16,140 in valuation, while jther real estate, including farm, fruit and grazing land, showed a decrease of $47,663. A general shifting of lands in the county is indicated, Mr. Atwood said, with new subdivisions being added to various communities; farm lands being shifted to unimpoved and grazing land, and some areas being deeded to taxing units and taken from the tax rolls. A general building program throughout the county is shown, with city and town lots under improvements jumping from $6,526,-75in 1941 to $6,690,079 in 1942, Mr. Atwood said. Land in the area of the Geneva works of the Columbia Steel plant at Vineyard, now under construction, were assessed prior to Jhe time the land was purchased for ihe steel plant site, but it is assumed that the Defense Plant corporation will pay the taxes "on these lands, he said. Improvements on the land will be placed on next year's assessment rolls, he said. Value Increases Livestock's increase was principally due to the increased value of the animals as in most instances there were fewer' animals than in 1941. The exceptions were horses, sheep and swine, where slight increases in numbers were shown. Besides motor vehicles, increases were under personal property shown by merchandise, which jumped from $2,439,617 to $2,548,121 and miscellaneous personal property which ncreased from $45,627 to $54,483. Machinery showed a decease, dropping from $1,867,567 to $1,784,435, due principally to moving of machinery out of the county from two sugar factories and also taking out some of the heavy machinery used in the Deer Creek project, Mr. Atwood said. The 1942 assessment compared with 1941 with the 1942 figure first n each instance is as follows: Real 7 s orchestra. The featured to satisfy dancers of all ages, young and old. The grand opening dance will be held Saturday, June 13. A new hardwood iox has been put in the outdoor section of the pavillion and the other portion of the floor sanded and put in first class condition.
