Ruel and Noble Evans were planting grain on the Rockwell farm west of Saratoga, Ruel was driving the tractor and noticed a car stop near the truck loaded with grain, a drum of gasoline and a drum of oil. Thinking it was hunters, Mr. Evans continued with his planting. As he was on the far side of the field he noticed the occupants of the car loading the grain into their car. Noble Evans, who was taking care of the horses, also saw the men taking the grain. He start ed to the truck, horseback, and arrived as the thieves were just starting away with their car loaded with grain and carrying the drum of gas on the running board.' Mr. Evans jumped to the side of the car and took hold of the gasoline drum; as the men saw him, they pushed the drum of gas and Mr. Evans to the ground and made their getaway; Mr. Evans taking their license number before they disappeared. County officers are working on the case. It is thought that the men are members of a band working out of Salt Lake County. Ass the license numbers did not correspond with the car driven by the men, they apparently were taken from another car. Depot i of water, when an adequate supply would have greatly increased the farm production of that region. The tunnel which is being driven by the National Tunnel company from Tooele to Bingham, a distance of over four miles, has already developed considerable water and is expected to develop a flow ade- quate for the reclaiming of several hundred acres of rcmi-ariground adjacent to the town. Those sponthe soring project consider it the water will also attract additional Industrial plants for the district. They point out that a generous supply of water might attract refining and fabricating plants to that area. The mines are the best customers of the farmer. It is estimated that those directly dependent upon mining pay $15,575,000 for food yearly. Farmers have long been aware that when the mines are active and the miners are employed, the demand for their products is greatly stimulated, with a favorable reaction upon prices. When the mines are closed down the market is glutted and prices for fruits and vegetables hit bedrock. d I PRIMARY CALL FOR REPUBLICAN A Republican Lehi Primary will be held in the 8:00 Memorial Building, Monday, October 16. 1939 at voted be to ticket a of nominating M P for the purpose November 7, 1939. on in the general election, Tuesday, which might properly and to transact any other business come before the Primary. nominea One nominee for mayor, 2 year term; one counfor nominees for councilman, 4 year term; three 2 year recorder, for nominee one city cilman, 2 year term; term. 2 year for treasurer, nominee one city term; All citizens desiring to take part with the Republican Party are cordially invited to be present.
