The experiment farm at College, Alaska, near Fairbanks, is developing rapidly, and is raising a large variety of root crops, grains, berries, etc. The farm is in charge of Dr. Peterson,, who, with Prof. Oldroyd, is a former Utah resident. With the Geology department of the University of Alaska, Mr. Harris visited the largo gold fields at Ester Creek. As hydraulic operations uncover many prehistoric animals, geology students are kept on hand to dig the specimens out as they are discovered. of Speciments huge mammoths, mastodons, bisons, etc., are found, including ancient speci- mens of lions and tigers, like those known in warmer climates today. i These animals are found in what is said to be ''The richest gold placer in the world." Mr. Harris reports that the Government colony at Matanuska is progressing well, and that plans are going forward for new colonies at Hope and Homer on the Kenai Peninsula. Dr. Oldroyd and Peterson are both advocating a "Mormon Colony." and are trying to gain government sup- the family at BARGAIN PRICES. BROADBENT'S 20-- W Prompt Delivery Service f"....: ."ZjZZ year.
