WORLTON ISSUES STATEMENT In reference to his candidacy for the position of board member 'from Lehi to act upon the Board of Education of the Alpine School District, Dr. W. L. Worlton, one of the three candidates seeking election on December 2, 19:)6, issues the following statement: "I am interested in just one thing, both now and after the coming school election, and that is the future welfare and progress of educational advantages which will accrue to the boys and girls of this community. That interest will in no way be dimmed if I am defeated for the position I seek I shall wholeheartedly the support person elected. "I am aware that the next five years may bring many changes into our methods of educational progress, and that there is now such tendency toward revolutionary methods; but I am convinced that, no matter what the changes or progress, the fundamental right of the boy and girl in school to receive the full measure of the expended taxpayers' money should never be abridged. ''For nearly twenty years I have devoted much of my time to some public service. I have been and still am deeply interested in civic affairs, and actively devoted to religious duties. Experiences in these make me keenly aware of the seriousness of the responsible position I now seek. However, I believe the many years of direct contact I have had with interests of education, both public and religious, will allow me to adjust any change in educational viewpoint to the best advantage of our younger generation. ''If elected to the position of board member, I shall devote every effort, and all the time that is required, to assist in shaping the best posssible educational program for the entire school district. My attitude will be cooperative toward all members of the school organization within the Alpine district, but I pledge myself to the specific interest and welfare of the hoys 'and girfc jwith')i (the Lehi precinct. UTAH. THURSDAY. SSIOMARY FAREWELL sit vre "!T 2ND AND 5TH WARD PRIMARY CONFERENCE COMING TUESDAY A stirring story of the settlement and early history of American Fork, Pleasant Crove, and Lehi, never before heard over the air. will be featured on station K S L Thursday evening, November 26 at 6:30 p. m. it was announced today by the Utah Power and Light Company. The program sponsored by the power company dramatizes the actual tpisodes in the early history of these communities Pages of history are turned back to July, 1850, when a young Norwegian, Canute Peterson, first camped on the banks of the American Fork, and when the hunger of lean "grasshopper years" taught the pioneers to keep granaries and cellars well stocked with food stuffs against times of want. History lives again as the heroic exploits of the pioneers overcame obstacles to build the communities of the west. The program relates that the first alfalfa in Utah was grown in Lehi, in 1859. No more thrilling story of the early west is in existence than that of northern Utah County. Many episodes in the early history of American Fork and Pleasant Grove are featured. Dr. Adam S. Bennion; Assistant to the President of the company joined in issuing an invitation to all residents of the county to tune in on the broadcast. He explained the company is striving through a series of 26 programs on western history, of which this is the seventh, to preserve for future generations the rich heritage of the TO OUR SCHOOL PATRONS OF LEHI The many, many kind and encouraging remarks coming to me each day are sincerely appreciated- I feel that I need no introduction, and no defense of my labors during the past years.
