'SADIE MCKEE 35: Station-to-Stati- the outstanding screen productions of the year will be on view Sunday, Monday and Tuesday when rates. on One of "Sadie McKee," new Metro-Gol- d film starring Joan Crawford at the heal of a brilliant cast plays at the Ro yal Theatre. With a supporting cast including such "names" as Franchot Tone. Gene Raymond. Esther Ralston. Edward Arnold, Earl Oxford, Jean Dixon, Leo G. Carroll and others, the story Is said to be one of the most gripping ever translated to the screen. Written by Internationally famous novelist Vina Delmar. it was followed by millions of leaders when printed serially in Liberty Magazine. With Joan Crawford as the star and Clarence Brown directing, an Incomparable trio had charge of its production. Story of an Average Girl "Sadie McKee'' is a vivid dramatization of the average American girl. She Is the girl who lives next door, or just around the corner. She Is seen everywhere In street cars, subways, busses, theatres, shops. In the story she Is the daughter of a cook In a small town. She falls in love with the carefree young man who works for her mother's employer. Like many a modern girl, she elopes and tries her luck in a great city, in this case New York. Hardships and struggle await her. Her young man deserts her for a torch-singe- r. vaudeville glamorous She takes what jobs she can get and never despairs. She Is catapulted Into the luxury of $17,000,000 dollars when In desperation she marries a drunken millionaire. Saving his life from alcohol, she seeks to save her own soul by escaping. Another man, friend of her childhood, comes into her life. Yet she still loves her small town friend, who, willy nilly, meets a tragic fate. The conclusion of the picture holds a tremendous surprise, yet consistent with the character of Sadie McKee. wyn-May- The Utah County Republican Convention will be held In Sprlngvllle on September 26 was the report of the Couty Central Committee, following their meeting in Provo. The farm administration tonight announced a curtailment of 10 per cent in the basic wheat acreage in 1935 for farmers cooperating in production control plans, instead of the 15 per cent required this year. Officials said the curtailment would be made following adjournment of the International wheat conference at London, The change from the 15 per cent reduction was regarded by officials aa a partial approach to the goal of adjusting supplies to normal domestic plus whatever exporta consumption be available. may Comprise Decision In arriving at the decision, the administration cmpromised between an to guard aganst political effort crlticsm resulting from this year's in the light of drouth damage, and an effort to avoid repetition of surpluses with consequent low prices.
