NEW TREATMENT A paper was read by Dr. Mark Ardeth Dalton of. Oakland, setting ' forth the sucessful results of a new treatment for the disease, a chronic affection of bone tissue which cause sufferers to shrink in stature, at time ' as much as twelve Inches, and become hopeless cripples whose bone fracture at any movement. DIET FAILS Since that time, acording to medical authorities, thousands of cases have been treated in America with a diet balanced as to vitamins and calcium, but with little success beyond occasionally arresting the inroads of the malady. At present, they said, there are probably 2000 victims of Paget's disease in this country. Dr. Dalton, in his paper, declared that he had addsd phosphorus to the vitamin diet, "balanced" it with cholo-ride- s, and then Injected calcium directly into the veins of a tient, who has shown an almost complete recovery. PATIENT RECOVERS He said that from, last July to November, with the customary treatment, his patient showed no improvement but from November to the present, with the phosphorus and calcium injections the patient, a man employed by the County of Alamendo, had Improved so that he is able to resume his work, "X-ra- y pictures," according to the paper, "show that the fractures have disappeared like magic and that there has been a regeneration of the affected bone tissue."
