YOUTH DROWNS III BOULDER LAKE ABOVE HUNTINGTON HUNTINGTON Darrel (Dave) Mangum, 23, Clear Creek miner, drowned Sunday in Boulger dam lake at the head of Hunthe atington canyon when tempted to swim' ' his horse across the small lake. Plans for a community outing near the pond were cancelled following the tragedy and crews spent several hours dragging the water before the body was recovered by Frank Averett and Wallace Gordon, companions of Mangum. Rescusltation efforts were futile. Mangum and Averett rode their horses into the water about 2 p.m. When near the middle of the lake, Mangum's horse foundered, the man went into the water, and sank before help arrived. The horse reached shore safely. Mr. Mangum was born at Bicknell on September 17, 1914, a son of John A. and Eliza Mangum. He married Lola Ward of Mohrland and had lived at Clear Creek several years. Surviving are his parents, his widow, and a brother and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Stevenson, Phyllis and Clifford Mangum of Mohrland and Mrs. Nina Bern-so- n of American Fork.
