Howard Silliman and Art Swan-so- n - oEMERY SCHOOL NEWS Reporter Una V. Williams The Hallowe'en dance given by the Emery school last Wednesday night, turned out to be a hilarious success. A few unique and interesting sidelights added much to the pleasure of the crowd as well as to the success of he dance. Contrary to tradition, the public upon approaching the front door was greeed by the profile of a hiJ-lo- us looking man directing them to use the back entrance to the building. Thence they were directed up a long, narrow, dark stairway, that creaked at every step, for lack of frequent use. What appeared to be cobwebs and other filth dangled from the staircases to torment and oherwise annoy he patrons. At s he top of the stairway stood a looking ghost, in the person of Reva Case, who welcomed the dancers and spectators. Death's room was Just inside of the first entrance. It was adorned with graves of the dead, one of which was entirely open and in possession of a personage who had not yet reached the relms of the great beyond, and seemed to be having much difficulty in getting there, measured by her shrieks and groans. This personage was none other than Zena Jorgensen. The artistic booths at either corner of he east end of the auditorium proved to be very attractive spots, especially the one that was offering for sale delicious orange punch and ice cream. The other booth was not so attractive, yet Lena Brinkerhoff did all in her power to make it that way by shouting at the op of her voice "Confetti, two for five cents". As intermission time aproached. a strange thing happened. large troup of darkles, carrying crude musical instruments fashioned after the common utinsels found in the housewife's kitchen, pried their way into the ball room. They marched across the floor and signified to the orchestra that it was its move, whereupon these black music makers took possession of the dance in a very clever imper--( Continued on page 8.) hid-iou- on-rush- ing returned Tuesday from a few days' visit in Salt Lake City.
