Show Chronicle - Page Nine Thursday, January 19, 1989 -- festival from page eight Check Cosmic Aeroplane for tickets to the Cassavetes seminar. If they are sold out, the best bet would be to buy a ticket to one of the 16 Cassavete films being offered at the festival. The nice thing about this segment of the festival is that organizers have scheduled the Cassavetes films in chronological order so the viewer may follow Cassavetes' career from the beginning to 1985s Love Streams. The Jay Ward Tribute is a must for anyone who grew up in the 1960s. Rocky and Bullwinkle, Boris and Natashia, George of the Jungle, and Superchicken will five again for just a few short hours. The viewer will also be treated to a guest appearance by June Foray, the voice ' of many of these characters. Duck's Breath will be premiering their first feature film at the Egyptian theater. It is called Zadar! Cow From - Hell! The group will favor the audience with a special live performance before the screening on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. (The event is listed as T.B.A. in the festival catalog.) The group, which has been hailed by some critics as America's answer to Monty Python, said their film "combines silly satire and flying with odd costumes and grotesque facial expressions in its sketches and commentaries." I took home Clownhouse to watch it with my kids. One by one, the kids made excuses to leave the room. Emily was the only one who stuck it out with me, but that was only with her sleeping bag over her head. This movie, for me, rivals anything I've seen done by Stephen King at his best. Scary? Oh, honey, Victor Salva's direction is crisp and right on the mark. Clownhouse is the story of three young brothers left alone on a Friday night who attend the circus. The youngest dreads the gaudy, creepmess of the clowns. The oldest bullies him incessantly, playing upon his fears. The brother soon realizes nis little brother's fear of non-sequitu- rs in order.
