Kohl Special to the Chronicle Lovers of the art of mime, or those who arc just plain curious about the silent craft, should be interested in the upcoming performances of the Doodles Mime Company this weekend. The shows, at the Salt Lake Acting Company, feature two acts. The first, "It Goes Without Saying," features company Artistic Director, Joe Pitti, in a series of solo pieces accompanied by piano. These pieces include both traditional mime pieces and Pirri's original work. The second half of the performance will feature a premiere of "A Cat Show," a selection of pieces revolving, of course, around cats. Company members call this half of the program "unconventional" and add that there will be "more than a few surprises." The Doodles Mime Company is Utah's only professional mime troupe, and their director, Pitti, has performed both on the streets and stages of New York City. A former member of the company Mimedancc, Pitti says his style of mime emphasizes the comedic aspects of everyday life, "hopefully making the mundane exciting." The company also incorporates elements of dance to take the audience on what it terms a "voyeuristic experience." Look for an evening of surprise and entertainment with the Doodles Mime Company. The shows play at 8 p.m. on Oct. I and 12, and at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. 500 N. Tickets are $10 and $5. 5.
