Show The Day Utah Chronicle, Thursday. February 1 8, 1 S32 Page Six mannas Chrony ignored film Editor: On Thursday, the film El Salvador Another Vietnam? was shown at the Union Little Theatre. Following the -- movie, the producer, Glenn Silbert, answered questions about its production and the situation in El Salvador. The crowd. So movie was attended by a standing-room-onl- y to it twice. It be shown had it came see to that many people was obvious to anyone who attended that the overwhelming feeling on the part of those present was against any U.S. involvement in El Salvador's civil war. To my surprise, not a single word was printed in the Chronicle about this event which occurred at the same time that Ford was giving his $12,000 Challenge Lecture (which I heard wasn't worth 25C). The movie recently won an award at the U.S. Film and Video Festival which was held in Park City and is being considered for an Academy Award. Sibert is also a part of the organization, headed by actor Edward Asner, that has launched a campaign to raise money for medical aid to the Salvadorian people (while the U.S. government is pumping in bombs and bullets to support a regime that is bent on a policy of wiping out its own populace). It seems to me that the Chronicle could not have just overlooked such an important campus event addressing a vitally important issue unconsciously. I wish the staff of the Chronicle would explain to me and the rest of your readers how such a thing could be overlooked. Objective journalism and responsible journalism demand an explanation. Perhaps a statement on this matter by the Chronicle staff is in order. Abu Sabri Editor's note: The "Chronicle" listed the showing of the film in the 'Today" box, to inform students of the event.
