Let's treat the last point first. Did the Chrony reporter attempt to ascertain what Obenzinger's Jewish credentials are? In what Jewish organizations is he active? A Jewish mother and a circumcision scar do not an active Jew make. Where did the Chrony reporter eet the idea to stress Obenzinger's Jewish activism? This brings us to the second point. The Chrony rejiorter got this brilliant idea from the flyer for the panel discussion. Who put out the flyer? (Cod forbid that the Chrony article should mention it!) None other than the General Union of Palestinian Students. It's apparently to be taken for granted that a Chrony reporter need not be able to distinguish between propaganda and news. One wonders, however, why the (anonymous) editoi (s) of the Chrony can't. Now the final xint the placement of raw propaganda on the front page with a nifty, headline. When experts, not propagandists, on the Middle East scak on campus, the Chrony routinely buries the stories, if there are any. on the inside pages.
