Saltair Tierr.onlon. Utah The Leader fades into Utah history as slowly as the lake's shoreline recedes into the Utah desert. The gaiety that once rang out is silent. The gaiety has gone elsewhere. The gaiety was the Dance Festival of the Mutual Improvement Association of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-dato the Saints. It has moved spacious University of Utah Stadium in Salt Lake City. This year's festival will be presented on Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19. at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. Back in 1947, when the Dance Festival was held at Saltair, people thronged to the Great Salt Lake's shoreline. Parking was scarce, and people walked more than a mile from their cars to watch the dancers. The parking problem my still exist, but the 30.000 seat stadium ends ,the seating problem. Foil dancing is a tradition of cul tures that has been kept alivi for others to see. The recrea lion of authentic routines am techniques of folk dancing pro vides clean, wholesome fun for the youth of the Church. On June 18 and 19 the colorful dances will recreate the gaiety of past years. Utah Bothwell Classes Deweyille Boy Take Field Trip Injured In Farm Accident by Karen Stokes Children of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades left Friday by bus for an all day field trip to Salt Lake City. They visited many places of interest including the Cream of Weber Dairy in Ogden, Ogden Standard Examiner Clover Newspaper, Club Potslo Factory, the Airport and Liberty Park. The children were accompanied by teachers and room mothers. Mrs. Tennie Summers, Mr. and Mrs. Odell Summers and Orion family, Mr. and Mrs. Summers and family of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Summers and Kathy of Tremonton visited Monday at the Farrell Summers home. Gutitt Visit Monday Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Stokes and family of Bountiful were Monday visitors at the DcLon Stokes home. Their son, Terry, will be leaving in two weeks for Chile where he will spend the next two years on a mission for the L.D.S. Church. His farewell will be held June 13 in Bountiful. Mrs. DeLon Stokes and children spent Memorial Day with Mrs. Polly Smith. Visitors also with Mrs. Smith were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Messinger and Melonie of Ogden and Mrs. Gertrude Winn. Our community extends sympathy to the Charles Litchford family upon the serious injury of their son. David, last Monday morning, in a farm accident. David was taken to the Valley hospital and then transferred to the Dee hospital in his Ogden. He was helping brother, Michael, on the Layne Gardner farm when he accident ly got into the hay chopper receiving serious injury to his right leg. Mr. and Mrs. Orion Snow, Mrs. Charles Litchford, Patsy and Vicki, Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Snow of Bountiful drove to Provo, Saturday night where they watched over 200 dancers of the Lyman Dancers perform in Born to Dance. Mrs. Lyman is the former LuJean Quinlan, niece of the Snow's. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Lyman and their six children of Provo, and Mr. and Mrs. Woodruff Snow and family of Bountiful, were weekend visitors at the Snow home. Misted On Memorial Day Word came from Mrs. Lizzie Germer that, due to health reasons she would not be able weekto spend the Memorial end with family and friends here as she has done every year. We truly missed seeing Aunt Lizzie and wish her a good recovery so she will be able to come see us all soon.
