To motivate interest in making the children more aware of the many different books in the library, Lana Godfrey sponsored a 'book mark contest.' Each student was asked to participate and submit an original book ' mark. According to Postmaster Iverson, customers can be more assured that their gifts will arrive in good condition if the following packaging tips are followed. A single item in a package should be cushioned with shredded paper, excelsior, compressed tissue paper, cloth or expanded plastic foam. If two or more items are in the same carton, cushioning material should protect items from contact with each other, and each item should have its own individual inner carton. Fiberboard containers, including large soap, cereal boxes, etc. larger than the gift being mailed, should be BIRTHS cut down to about the size of the gift to minimize shifting of contents in transit. The $1 permits will be sold on a basis December 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salt Lake District Office (2370 South 2300 West). Those who purchase one of the 500 permits available will be allowed to cut the tree of their, choice on Saturday, December 10 at the mouth of Blackrock Canyon located 80 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. Pinyon pine will be the only trees available for cutting. A Special Interest Christmas party will be held in Deweyville Ward Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. Tickets are available thru the Relief Society representatives at $4 per person.
