The ancient philosopher also decried the horrors of child abuse as do modem day defenders of children. The subject of child abuse was treated recently by Mr. Earl Bassett, supervisor of the Division of Family Services for Box Elder County. Bassett was guest speaker at the Tremonton Women' Civic League's Thursday afternoon meeting in the Senior Center. A plaque which was awarded to Tremonton for the "Historic Preservation" efforts in refurbishing the old McKinley school into the lovely center it has become, was shown to the club members. Mrs. Jack Siumway and Mrs. Vernell Morrison, who represent the Civic League in the llah State Womens' Council, gave Legislative reports on the meeting they attended last week. Branch President Mrs. Flo Munson conducted a short business meeting prior to the lesson presentation during which time Mrs. Rytting gave a report of the Penwomens state board meeting held at the home of State President Mrs. Max-lJennings In Ogden Saturday Sept 28. Members were informed state luncheon for Penwomen will be held at the University of Utah Nov. 9. Also discussed were plans for the annual Birthday Party to be held In May. The Box Elder branch has Invited the Ogden chapter as their guests of a buffet luncheon to be held at the home of Mrs. Iva Lou Nebeker in Brigham City Oct 30 starting at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Iva Lou Nebeker resented a lesson on art. She showed several of her us original paintings in the aftand before stages er they were completed. She also read a humorous poem and passed around several well-knoartists productions in newspapers.
