That's why it's so hard to remember just what makes a good plant To jog your memoryor in case you never did know the U.S. Department of Agriculture offers these pointers for choosing a long lasting poinsettia, suggests Nada Jean Young, Utah State university extension agent in Box Elder County. Select first for height and size. Choose a low, compact plant for a table centerpiece; large plants for a tub of color in the living room. Look for plants that have green foliage all the way to the soil line. This indicates a good root system, a disease-fre- e plant, and one that has been properly fertilized. Select only plants with small green buttons In the middle of red bracts. These buttons develop into flowers. If the plant Is already producing pollen, you'll know part of its useful display life has already passed. morning as Mrs. Mary By MRS. VIRGIL HARRIS Rose, had taken a turn for the Mr. and Mrs. Ora H.
