April 6, 19S1 The Tremonton, Uiah LEADER EAST GARLAND RIVERSIDE East Garland Sees 1 Act Play, Enjoys Banquet Riverside Couple Visit Home Of Indian Child Protege A very successful ward supper was held Wednesday evening with the Sunday School preparing the banquet. A program was presented including a one-aplay. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Isaacson of Logan visited the Eph Petersons Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Karen Hansen of Logan Bpent Wednesday afternoon n with Mr. and Mrs. L. M. and attended the ward banquet that night. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Brown of Ogden spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Holman. Leslie Grover of Billings, Mont., also visited briefly at the Holman home Thursday and with Mrs. Ellen Rhodes. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnson and family of Bountiful spent the Easter weekend at the Roy Oyler home. Saturday the Roy Oyler families held a picnic out near Thiokol. They were all Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Shaffer. ct Hol-ma- Mr. and Mrs. Stacey Oyler and family spent Easter in Salt Lake City with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hewlett. Annette Archibald of Twin Falls, Ida., spent the weekend at the Howard Oyler home. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Rhodes and family went to Logan Sunday to get Melvin Edvalsen and all went to Ogden where they were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl. Edvalson. The Rhodes brought Melvin bark to Logan where he Is attending school. Mrs. Ellen Rhodes was Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Dr. LeRoy A. TO SEE "PROMISED VALLEY" "Promised Valley," a musical play about the Mormon pioneers will be presented by a select staff during the "workshop" week of April Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Saints (Mormon). The advance workshop is sponsored by the general board of the MIA, (Mutual Improvement Association). Music, drama and dance leaders from the stakes of the church will study production techniques in preparation for similar presentations of "Promised Valley" in their home 300 stakes. Approximately stakes and communities are expected to produce ths play for their local audiences during Latter-da- y 1961. Two thousand conference visitors are expected to attend each of the two performances, 12 noon and 8 n.m.. on April 7, at ter. Stake CenParley's Canyon Blvd.. Salt Lake City. Crawford Gates, who composed the original music of "Promised Valley" for its first performance during Utah's centennial year, 1947, will conduct the workshop cast and chorus. Dr. Gates is chairman of the music department at Brigham Young University and general board member of the MIA. The workshop cast includes members from 27 stakes and consists of 11 leads, a children's chorus, and a versatile chorus that will take the roles of pioneers, Indians, and soldiers.
