Thursday, April 19, 1956 , DEWEYVILLE By Mrs. Wayne Fryer Cannons Return From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Thales Cannon, accompanied by their daughter, Rita, Seattle, Wash., returned home la't Week from a coast to coast trip via United Air Lines. Leaving from Salt Lake airport they went to Washington D. C and spent two days seeing the sights in and around the Capitol City. They also were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Waldron and family while there. The Cannons traveled from there to Denver, Colo., and Cheyenne, Wyo. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. George I. Jensen in Wyoming. Then on to Seattle for two days at Rita's home and sight seeing in the northwest. In nine days they took in points of interest in sixteen states and report their trip the thrill of a lifetime. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hodges and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hodges, Fielding, visited at the Barrus home, Sunday, with Mrs,. Hannah Hodges. Mrs. Hodges is somewhat improved at this time. Visiting Sunday?with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ault were Mr. and Mrs. Duet Loveland and Gary, Mrs. Ted Richardson, Patsy Ann and J. L., Mr.:; and Mrs. Darrel Loveland and Judy! Brigham City. P.T.A. Elects New Officers ' The local P.T.A. met Thurs day night with Mrs. Clarence Perry presiding. A most instructive program of musical and spoken numbers was presented under the direction of Mrs. Pearl Grover and Mrs. Virginia Blackham. Elected as vice president for the coming year was Mrs. Dee Selman. Mrs. Glen Hess will serve as secretary. Mrs. Ernie Bouwhuis will be the president. Principal Jay Stokes reported on several matters, the one most prevalent, the planting of new lawn area. A committee of men with Ernie Bouwhius as chairman, was elected to see what work needed to be done before the planting. All parents in the community are to help with the work. With the new sprinkling system ready to go, our school grounds can be improved immensely. T. Sgt. and Mrs. Billie F. Wood, Ogden, were weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Gardner. Sgt. Wood has just returned from Japan. Baby Improving' The tiny son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hansen has been brought home from Ogden after being seriously ill in the hospital there. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Peterson, who are the grandparents, say it will be some time before the youngster is out of danger. Mrs. Clarence Perry was pleasently surprised by her children singing "Happy Birthday, dear Mother", Sunday morning. They handed her a package which revealed a note telling her where to search further. The result was, Mrs. Perry went upstairs and down, looking in a variety of places until she found their gift. To make the day more complete, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson, Preston, came for the afternoon. To, wind the day up in fine style, her husband took her to dinner at the Maddox in Brigham City.
