Show T h EAST GARLAND by Mrs. Eph Peterson COMMUNITY NOTES DEATH, FUNERAL FOR GEORGE COOMBS Mrs. Tom Harper was called to Ogden Thursday forenoon because of the serious illness of her father, George Coombs who had recently been at the Dee Hospital for treatments and was now at the home of his son George. Mrs. Harper was there only a short time when he pas-e- d away. The funeral was held in Fielding Monday and the large attendance from East Garland attests to the love and respect in which he was regard- - ed in the community, also to the place George and Louise have made for themselves in the hearts of the people while they lived here. Mrs. Wendell Hansen played the prelude and postlude music and also accompanied the vocal numbers on the piano. Warren Hansen was one of the speakers. Mrs. J- P. Christensen accompanied her sister, Mrs. Claud Allred and daughter Yvonne, Mrs. Frank Wood and Mrs. Ray Wood and Karen to Logan Thursday. On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Orin Parkinson and Mrs. Francis Allen visited at the Henry Sorensen home. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Rhodes were Ogden visitors Sunday. New Baby Mr. and Mrs. Ed Isaacson were notified Monday of the safe arrival of a fine baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs DeVerl Payne at the Valley Hospital. Mrs. L. R. Shaffer has spent the greater part of the week at the hospital in Logan helping out with her grandson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Godfrey of Clarkston who fell from a moving car Tuesday. Willis Petersen was guest speaker and showed slides on Denmark. Re ireshments were served by the Mia Maids. Primary Conlerence was held Sunday evening. The children all did veiy well and wer? rewarded Monday afternoon at Primary with a camp fire party. Because of Stake Conference next Sunday, the Mother's Day Program was held at Sunday School this week. The Joseph Egley family attended the funeral services at Bear Lak.? Monday for the father of Mr. Egley. Joseph spent last weekend with nis father before he passed away on Tuesday. The community extends sympathy to Mr. Egley in his loss and to Mrs. Ella Holt whose father died Thursday.
