There may be only the seeing, momentarily and in certain lights, of branching vessels in the retina; or one may see curious moving particles when looking at the summer sky or a brightly light ed wall surface. These latter represent images of blood cells travel ing in capillaries f the retina which seem to ro whirling along lor a short way then disappear. The seeing of each of these phe- nomeru is normal under such circumstances. Light flashes, produced by sudden pressure upon the eye, may be of no consequence; but their occurence under other con ditions. as when entering a dark ened room or leaving it, may indi cate threatened hemorrhage into the eye, or even beginning detachment of the retina. If such an experience is repeated the eye M.D. should be consulted at once. Small bemmorrhages into the back of the eye may be made known by the seeing of "webs" or floaters" or a "Mark nbiect" at the side, which f disappear when one looks where I It Beemed to be. 4 Tollowine the light flashes, sep. ! aration of the retina will usually I 1 manifested by a veil-ircut in the field of vision of the affected eye. This seems to increase in size from morning to evening. Appear ance of any such thing means urgent need of specialized attention to prevent complete detachment and loss of the eye. Ally lowerine of vision at dis tance, especially if it comes en vithin a few hoars or days, may mean that a disease, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, is si lecung the retina and tuioroid. Chronically lowered acutenessof vision should be studied to discover the cause, since it may be 'helped by glasses or some other means. In .a person of middle age of this may occur from begm-nin- g development of cataract, or from some condition involving wood vessels to the retina. Sudden loss of sight in one ox tooth eyes is a serious matter and should be seen by an eye physician at the earliest possible moment some Boi-s-'u.s- ji Idaho; and Air:. Ethel Anderson. This can occasion considerable loss of sight, and prompt treatment will usually prevent such damage. Occasionally individuals are born with poor vision due to some malformation or failure of development. Such things may often be helped much, and any child or adult who sees poorly should have careful examination by an eye phy sician to determine the cause ana to give whatever help may be available in overcoming the condition. Crossing of the eyes results from lack of proper coordination of the muscles that move them. This is a curaole abnormnflity, and its victim should have fne attention of a medio&l specialist as soon as possible after the 'deviation is first observed. Immediate treatment or surgery may net be indicated, in the 'case of a young child, bet it shodki be under the supervision of a practitioner with special training in this field. Seeing double usually resdlts from recent upset in coordination of the eye muscles. 'Headache ccmes from a long list of oauses. WANITD n toms arise from many causes som of which net steaiiily worse with any delav in obtaining propel treatment There may be only sore ness of the eyes to movement of them, which ofteD accompanies acute inflammation of the optic nerve, but may stem from other less serious conditions. Eyes that seem to have too little tears and which give distress when first opened in the morning should have attention, as this may be the first indication from a and trying general disease of which the eye trouble is only a small part. An impression of too much se cretion of tears may come from partial or complete blocking of the tear duct in one or both eyes. This results in the tears overflowing the lids and runnine down the face. There are many causes of such a problem. In young children it usually means failure of the lower end of the tear duct to open, and attention should be given to correct it. All of these conditions are curable. but some of them are difficult. There are many things that cause acute ini lamination of the eyes, and they range all the way an infrom "pink-eyflamed state of the membrane lining eyelids and covering over the white part of the eyeball, to iritis and glaucoma both of which may cause total blindness when neglect- 4, 1954 will pay cash for dead or usless com, horses, aheep or hogs.
