Tremonton, Utah SPORTS Ronald Petersen In Second Pro Filit Saturday old Ronald Petersen, Thatcher slugger who recently won his first professional bout, meets stiff opposition for his second match Saturday in the Brigham City Armory e 8 p.m. He will meet Max Simpson, of Salt Lake City, with a record of six victories. Ronald took his first test wtih a knockout in the third round over Lee Haynes in Brigham on Oct. 31. Ronald, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Petersen, plans to make boxing a career, he said Thursday. He is being trained and managed by Keith Nuttal, Brigham City. 20-ye- Logan Schedules Globetrotters The world famous Harlem Globetrotters, featuring Goose Tatum, "Mr. Basketball", along with the Washington Generals, Toledo Mercuries and Philadelphia Sphas will provide a mam-mout- h double header for northern Utah basketball fans at Utah State Field House, Logan, Monday Jan. 11. Game time will be 8 p. m. with the Trotters performing in the nightcap. Special entertainment will be provided between games and between halves. The Logan appearance of the Trotters will provide fans of northern Utah with the same attraction that fans in New Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and large cities of the York, nation feature annually. The Trotters in 90 games this season have played to turn away crowds. They will perform at Utah Coliseum in Salt ,Lake City, Jan. 12 and in the BYU Field House on Jan. 13. Tickets for the Logan head-line- r will be on sale in Tremonton, Saturday Jan. 9 only at Woodward's. Sportsmen Set Election of New Officers Bear River Stake Hoop Squads Back In Action After a two week holiday vacation, Bear River Stake basketball teams swing back into action this week, with teams tied for four places. Beaver Dam and Garland Second Spuads are tied for first place with unblemished records. Each has won three games. One loss and two wins is the record of Fielding and East Garland, tied for second. Tied for Third are Garland First and Howell, each with two losses and one win. Trailing in fourth place are Riverside and Plymouth, each with three defeats. But Thursday's games should break at least one of those ties. Beaver Dam and Garland, both undefeated, are scheduled to play in the first game at Beaver Dam Ward Recreation Hall, with Plymouth and Fielding to follow. A hot lunch was served by quorum officers and their wives, and the evening entertainment also included a program and games to usher in 1954. The Bothwell bishopric and their wives were special guests, and 84 persons attended. Carp and trash fish were removed by poisoning and then 9000 game fish were planted by the Federation. Local members also erected two cattle guards to control cattle problems in the area. The project aims at making Locomotive Springs one of the top fishing locations in northern Utah.
