Show THE LEADER Utah U Social Groups Pledge Youth Banquet Given At Fielding Post A banquet for Explorer 631 and Scout Troop 131 and their parents was held at 8:00 o'clock at the ward building evening. , Explorer Monday Lealer John A. Bourne, and De Vere Adams, Scoutmasters Vel Garn and Ross Rudd were in charge of the entertainment. Special guests were the Bishopric and their partners. Troop committeemen and their partners, Prest. Vernald W.. Johns of the Stake Presidency and Wallace Bourne. Over ninety people were present. After the banquet i short program of songs and skits were presented by the Scouts. A Scouter Pin was presented to Rex Richards. All the boys who received badges at the Scout Court ' of Honor presented miniature badges to their mothers. It was a most enjoyable evening. Three University of Utah students from Tremonton and vicinity, pledged social groups at the University during rushing activity held recently. Among the 124 men who pledged social fraternities were Jack Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Guy Johnson of Tremonton and Lex Udy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark J. Udy of Field ing. Both pledged Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Mr. Johnson is a sopromore in at the University. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dalton were in Salt Lake City Friday evening to hear the Robertson Oratorio at the tabernacle. . They were selected from more than one hundred students and were judged on their service to the school and their participation in school activities. Miss Allen is an ROTC Sponsor, a Kappa Delta and a member of the Buzzer staff. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Allen and is a freshman student majoring in secretarial science. Mr. Johnson is a member of the football team, a member of the socials committee and a Sigma Chi. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Austin L. Soft Wool CHECKS 19.75 VISIT IN BOISE Mr. and Mrs. Ted Cochran were in Boise last week to attend funeral services for C. P. Kennedy, an uncle of Mr. Cochran. Thejsspent several days after the funeral visiting relatives there. Mrs. Kennedy is a guest at the Cochran home this week. Simmons Twins Win Utah Foothall Letters Darold and Gerald Simmons, the twin combination for the Utah Redskins, Skyline conference football champions, have own letters in varsity football for 1952-5it was announced recently. The men are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Y. Simmons, of Collinston. Gerald is the husband of Marianne' Manning Simmons. Gerald, a junior majoring in physical education, played right guard on defense mostly, while brother played left guard. In addition 4,o his football activities Darold participates in intramural softball, and also wrestles for the school. Darold is also a physical education major. Graduates of Bear River high school, Gerald lettered in football there and Darold won letters in both football and baseball. 3, Sunday evening at the Fielding ward meeting the Scout Court of Honor for Troop 131 was held with Uel Garn, Scout Master in charge. The program started with the advancement of the colors. A candlelight ceremony was held with each boy lighting a candle and repeating one of the Scout laws. Scouter pins were presented to troop committee men Jay Bourne, Theo Richards and Leland Burton. Tenderfoot b a H a s went to McKay Allred, Michael Baird, Darrel Burton, Jerry Garn, Gerry Garn, Carl Coombs, Harry Scott and Glade Suther-lund. Second class badges were awarded to Owen Hess, Michael Moss and Gary Potter. First class badges and Merit badges went to Bruce Coombs, Daryl Garn and Dennis Richards. Star badges were awarded to Daryl Garn, Dennis Richards, after which there was the retreat of colors. Remarks were by Evan Gee, Waldo Cook, and Wallace Bourne, representatives of the Golden Spike district. Don Petersen, a steller fullback for the Universtiy of Utah Redskins, Skyline Conference football champions, has won a letter in varsity football for 1952-5it was announced recently. Mr. Petersen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Petersen of Fielding, Utah, and the husband of Eleanor Ballard Petersen. A junior physical education major at the University, Mr. Petersen was known as a hard and heady runner for the Redskins. He was the most frequent kickoff and punt returner on the team in 1951 and saw action on both offense and defense last season. He lettered in four sports, football, track, baseball and basketball at Bear River high school.
