Show Thursday January THE LEADER. 15. 1953 Deweyville East Garland Grace Warnke Mrs. Eph Peterson Athlete Receives National Recognition Jolene Gardner has recently received a certificate of merit from the National Softball Players Congress of America. Jolene was an Player, which was composed of fourteen girls who were chosen from teams throughout the state. She is a member of the Salt Lake City Shamrock team. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Marble of Tremonton were Saturday callers at the Gus Burbank home. Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Johnson received news of a new grandson, born last week to, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin A. Payne of TCew Mexico. Mrs. Payne is the former Laura Johnson, and this is the first child for the couple. Friday evening a group met at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Spack-ma- n to celebrate her birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Spackman and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Keller of Honeyville, Mrs. Marva Johnson of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Spackman and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Barnard. Marsha Stohl of Tremonton, is spending some time visiting with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Hunsaker while her parents are on a trip. Ward members enjoyed an entertainment at the church Thursday evening. Local talent completed for prizes which were won by Mrs. Marvin Ashby and Pamela Bond. During the evening an auction was conducted by Howard Barlow. Articles given by ward members were bid on. The committee in charge were Clarence Perry, Lyndon Barkle and Wayne Norr. Mrs. Frank Jensen and Mrs. Charles Norr were Friday guests of their sister, Mrs. Ed Deakin of Tremonton. The occasion being Mrs. Deakin's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Burbank and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burbank of Brigham city were Sunday guests at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Burbank. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Barnard were Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Barrett and son Stanley, Isobel Stumpf, Norman and Pauline Sorenson of Mendon and Mrs. Ned Bodily and son Jimmy of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Blackham of Logan were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Black-ha- Lu Ann and Dan Shaffer accompanied James Anderson to Salt Lake City Saturday evening where they attended a gold and green ball at the University of Utah. Mrs. Blaine Rhodes and children returned from Ogden Sunday where they had been staying since coming from the hospital with her new baby. Mrs. Ephraim Peterson and All-St- ar Farm-ingto- n, Mr. and Mrs. Myrl Perry and family were Wednesday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Hess of Ogden. Mrs. Norma Hoist of Brigham. city visited for a few days with her sister, Mrs. James Peterson and her mother, Mrs. Mary Seal. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dewey of Salt Lake City were Saturday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Norr. Mrs. T. R. Ault accompanied Mr. and Mrs. John Becker of Ogden on a business trip to Trenton and Preston, Idaho, Thursday. Mrs. Vernon Bunderson and Mrs. Ted McFarland of Riverside spent Tuesday in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Burbank and family of Ogden were Friday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Burbank. Mrs. Charles Norr and child- ren spent Saturday in Brigham city and visited with Mrs. Ed Rock. Mr. and Mrs. James Dixon and daughters of Brigham city visited Saturday nd Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jay Norr. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shelby and baby of Brigham city spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peterson. Mrs. Rita Call and small daughter of Tremonton were Sunday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Hunsaker. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dewey and Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dewey of Ogden were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gunnell of Tremonton and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Norr were Logan visitors Saturday. Mrs. Odell Bigler of Collins-toMrs. Lloyd Gardner and Mrs. A. A. Loveland spent Monday in Ogden. Mrs. Loveland remained to visit for a while with her daughter, Mrs Zoa McAllister. Mrs. Clarence Fryer and daughter Joyce accompanied to Mrs. Charles D. Litchford Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Fryer and Joyce visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bowen and Mrs. Litchford spent the time wtih her husband, who has undergone major surgery at the Veteran's hospital. She reports that he is much improved at this time. Mr, and Mrs. Raymond Heus-se- r and boys visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. J. P. Barnard in Brigham city. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson of Preston, Idaho were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Perry- Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon Barkle, and family visited Sunday afternoon in Logan with Joyce Barkle. Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Hess of Ogden spent Saturday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Margaret Perry. Mrs. Thales Cannon visited Friday in Ogden with her sister, Mrs. O. G. Harwood, and also Mrs. George with a sister-in-laT. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gardner and children of Logan spent the weekend with the Harpers, and the whole family were guests at Sunday dinner. Mrs. Roy uyler and Mrs. Jasper Shaffer accompanied Mrs. Lyle Johnson to Ogden Friday. Roy Oyler attended the Vegetable Seed growers school held in Ogden Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Shaffer and Richard and Barbara, Mrs. L. R. Shaffer and JoAnne were in Ogden Friday evening where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaffer. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Holland had as supper guests Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Emery Huggins of Befar River city and Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Stenquist of Tremonton. Mr, and Mrs. Chase Peterson were Salt Lake City visitors Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Atkinson were in Logan Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Allred and Susanne were in Ogden Sunday visiting relatives. Pauline Peterson is spending the week in Plymouth with her sister, Mrs. Mitchell Hess and family who have a new baby boy. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sorensen and Betty Jean were Logan visitors Monday. Tremonton, Utah ing B.Y.U. at Provo, spent the weekend at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rose. C. E. Thomas Jr. and Mrs. Lyle Mills of the Malad Stake Board, were in attendance at Sunday School here this week. Dahrl, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. DeMour John is being treated at the Valley liospital for pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harris and children of Kearns. Utah visited from Wednesday until Saturday with Norman's mother, Mrs. Rose Harris. Near at Hand Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nelson and family of Mantua, Utah were bunday guests of Mrs. Nelson s parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Gibbs. Mr. and Mrs. Earl John of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar n Kemp of Garland, and Mrs. Pierson of Plymouth, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Hoskins and Sam Kemp. Mrs. Audrey Nielsen of Garland visited freinds here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins received word of the birth of a baby girl Friday to Mr. and Mrs. Leon Conger of Tremonton at the Cooley hospital in Brigham city. Mrs. Conger was formerly Miss Theora Hoskins. This is their second child. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Nielsen of Salt Lake City spent Sunday visiting here with Mrs. Nielsen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Knudsen. Mr. and Mrs. Ora H. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris and family of Nampa, Idaho arrived here Monday for a visit with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Parkinson and children visited wtih Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sorenson at East Garland Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Stevenson left for their home in Idaho Falls Monday. Mrs. Stevenson has been visiting with her mother, Mrs. Vera Hall for the past ten days while her husband has been in Salt Lake City on business. She went to Salt Lake City after him Sunday. Word was received by Mrs. Vera Hall this week that her son, Captain Byron jHall, has arrived in Boise, Idaho. Captain Hall has spent the past year in S. Air Force.
