The perspectives that we all share are perspectives that Washington can use," said Leavitt. He urged those in attendance to elect leaders who will "trumpet the values" shared by peopie in the Third District. Meeting with several residents at the Beaver Opera House, Leavitt spent over an hour explaining why he is running fcr Congress and responding to questions about several issues including Federal land in rural Utah. Leavitt's position on this corresponds with a theme he has echoed since announcing his candidacy. "Utahns ought to have more of a say about what goes on in Utah than some bureaucrat back east," said Leavitt. Responding to a question about which issues need to be addressed in Washington, Leavitt highlighted three: the Federal government's role to protect the freedoms of U.S. citizens, not to take care of them; the breakdown of the family and the high social costs incurred as a result; and the need to return to a public acceptance of a Supreme Being. "My hope is that Americans still understand the source of their freedom," said Leavitt. Leavitt spends 4 nights a week at various locations throughout the Third District conducting similar meetings. Stakes. In 1863 Coby's other Great-GreGrandfather John Swindiehurst came to Utah from Northwest, England and settled in Beaver. John was a sheep herder and farmer. He and his family had a special love for the Beaver Mountains. In April of 2006 Kent and Cobys' dream to serve the families of Beaver County came to fruition. Swindiehurst Funeral Home is just blocks from the original Swindiehurst homestead (360 West 100 North).
