Camp which met Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Beaver 1st2nd Ward Church. Captain Thelma Goodwin was in charge. Following, the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, Mrs. Goodwin announced plans for the annual District Convention to be held in Beaver on April 16, 2005 at the Opera House Civic Center. Plans were made for Courthouse the cleaning Museum. Peggy Ruesch told about a bedstead on display at the DUP Museum in Salt Lake City. It was 38 years in the making using red cedar from Parley P. Pratts first home. Two songs were enjoyed during the afternoon; "The Builders of the Nation" and "Little Maggie Mae." Lesson leader, Betty Gillins, with the help of others, presented an interesting lesson based on the settlement of Bonneville County of Idaho by Utah Pioneers. This county which was established in 1911, ranks 5th in population of all the counties in Idaho. Idaho Falls is the county seat of this productive area where beets, potatoes, seed peas, grains and alfalfa are grown. Dairy and stock raising thrive due to the abundance of grazing lands. Many interesting accounts of the people and events in relationship to the settlement of this area were mentioned. Efforts to find ways to cross the Snake River were interesting. They . tried the ferry, all kinds of finally a railroad bridges was successful. That is bridge no longer a problem. Among the towns and those who settled them were lona, Ammon, Lincoln, Shelton, Ucon, and Coltman. Fascinating stories about each one made an interesting afternoon. Joyce Johnson served delicious refreshments at the conclusion of the meeting. until Resurrection Sunday! First Baptist Church will begin our Easter Services with a delicious breakfast at the Church at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2005. Following the breakfast we will have our Easter Service, with a message from God's Word and special music centered around the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hazel gave a nice history of Rosanna Williams Denning and her nursing experiences over the years. She handled or assisted in 1500 births. Class presents B.H.S. She is the little sister to Logan Smith and the daughter long. Jonathan is the grandson of Floyd & Elizabeth Yardley of Beaver and Bill & Gwen Webb of South Jordan, Utah. ttle The Triple Duce Has Their First Encounter With Real Iraqis! For training purposes, the U.S. Army has hired several former Iraqi residents in order to help soldiers familiarize and become better accustomed to Iraqi culture. SVC Battery convoyed to a simulated Iraqi city called Here they ran several training lanes: Riot control. Defense OPS, Urban Warfare, and React to Sniper Fire. One Urban Warfare mission was to recover a suspected weapons cache in a nearby Mosque controlled by terroristsinsurgents. 1st Platoon set up a parameter as 3rd Platoon provided covering fire for the breeching, team, 2nd Platoon. The breech team will gain entrance, control and secure the building. While in route, 2nd Platoons 1st and 2nd squads received sniper fire from the upper floor of the Mosque. Squad leaders SGT Ed Brown and SSG Kurt Walbeck reacted accordingly. Most of us were pretty much pinned down when the sniper opened fire but we had not suffered any injuries or casualties, said PFC Thompson. SSG Walbeck 2nd positioned Team: SPC Squad's Alpha Caldwell, SGT Raddon, and PFC Thompson, to cover 1st Platoons Alpha Team: SGT SGT Brown, SGT Morrey, SGT and Stoker, Albrecht, as they maneuvered to assault the snipers position in the building. 2nd Squad proceeded to into position to secure the outside walls. The Point Man PFC Thompson engaged and eliminated a hostile as 1st Squad commenced to breech and clear the building. Moment's later, 1st squad had the buildinq cleared and secured. The sniper had been eliminated and the weapons cache had been found and secured. Urban Operations are performed very quickly with a high degree of aggression on the objective. Although the building had been liberated and the cache was seized, the picture wasn't perfect until the platoon successfully consolidated at the rally point. After linking with 3rd Squad Support Team: SPC Alvey, SFC McEntire, SPC Moore, and SGT Bruce Smith, SFC Ralph Smith did a final A.C.E. report or AmmoCasualty Equipment check, before the platoon began to cautiously move out to the rally point. Five steps later, shots rang out from: above the police station across the street! Naturally everyone hit the dirt. Seconds after regaining census, the soldiers , sought cover. PFC Thompson screamed, "Man down!" as he ran in the line of fire to drag SPC Alvey. to safety. of Tony & are selling bricks from the old high school to raise money. After searching and securing the aggressor 3rd Squad again began to move toward the rally point again when they encountered a small mob of locals headed their way. They were protesting about the soldiers firing and entering their Mosque. After talking to the Sheik or local tribe leader about what had happened and letting him know they would help repair any damages caused. The mob was appeased and everyone was finally able to make it to the rally point where the OC called Student-Bod- W.D. "Dub II Payne W. D. "Dub" Beaver: Payne, S, 92, passed away March 2005 in Brawiey, California. He was born August 24, 1912 to 1 Davis William & Mary Luelia He married LaRue Payn. Marie (Foster) Georgia Johnston June 19, 1951 hunting and fishing and being in the mountains especially camping. He lived in the Imperial Valley in California for 76 years and moved to Beaver in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia Marie Payne Five children, of Beaver.
