SHARM LOPSHIRE PROBATION PERIOD ENDING: City Manager Atkin reported that Sharm Lopshire is doing an excellent job and was to be removed from the customary new hire six month probation period. It was me consensus of the Council that Sharm Lopshire be taken off of standard six month probation and be given a 50 cent per hour increase effective February 27, 2005.' EASTER EGG HUNT DONA-- . TION: Ranee White met with the City Council and discussed the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Mrs. white informed the City Council of the large number of children participating. Council moved. LIBRARIAN: It was reported to the City Council that Joan Beal, Beaver City Librarian died March 7, 2005. The City Council expressed their sympathy to the Beal Family for their loss. Council Member Draper moved. Council Member Foster 2nd, Beaver City advertise for a full time Librarian. All voted in favor of the motion. CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS: Williams Member Council Member moved. Council Erickson 2nd, Beaver City Council approve consent agenda item number one. All voted in favor of the motion. 1. Beaver City hereby enters for record water rights deed from Brent Stapley. A copy of the deed is attached hereto as Exhibit The City Council recessed from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Kloeppel Wedding Nicole Raphael, daughter of & Sally Raphael of Silver City, New Mexico, and Jordan Kloeppel, son of Talene Osborn Kloeppel of Santa Fe, New Mexico, will be wed on March Chris 26, 2005. The wedding will take place in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They will make their home in Colorado Springs, CO. Jordan is the grandson of Iris and the late Robert Osborn of Springville, and the great grandson of the late Ronella Griffiths of Beaver, Utah. RACE TRACK STRAIGHT AWAY: Brent Stapley, Craig and Ursula Carstensen and David Marshall met with the City Council and presented a proposal to make a straight a way portion at the race track. It was the consensus of the Council that all parties involved shall be contacted and then a public hearing held. COMMITTEE REPORTS: The City Council and City Manager made committee reports and discussed the following subjects: Chesley Electric work is complete at the Airport. Airport Bid Opening: There was one bid from Western Rock The bid is for Products. $629,902.50. Engineer estimate is $304,800. Engineer is reviewing the bid and specifications and will be making a recommendation to the City. Paper Plant prospect has a problem with the surcharge on Natural Gas. Lease of City Water on a temporary change order. It was the suggested that the City advertise to lease underground water right on a temporary change. It was the consensus of the City. Underground water be advertised for lease. It was the consensus of the Council that a work meeting be set at 3:00 p.m on March 22, 2005 with J. R. Ready Mix to discuss road base and chip issues. All three hydro plants are up and operating. The County would like an agreement on splitting of road maintenance. I.P.P. tour on April 12, 2005 at 12:00 Noon. Les discussed cleaning of Main Street with the fire department. Council Member Erickson. discussed Fire Department protocol investigation and obtained input from the Council on how to get the procedure started. City Manager to purchase a perpetual volunteer plaque. Council Member Williams Member Council moved. Erickson 2nd, Beaver City Council move into closed session at 8:00 p.m. to discuss the character, professional competence or mental health of an individual or individuals. By voice vote Council Member Yardley, Williams, Erickson, Draper and Foster voted in favor of the motion. The City Council moved out of closed session at 8:25 p.m. No further business being presented before the Council the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. 4 T&.StAw nc Jensen Andrew Terry Bsaver: Andrew Jensen Terry, beloved husband, father, grandfather and passed away peacefully on March 10, 2005 of causes incident to age. Andrew was born in Lund, Nevada on October 23, 1908 to George Alphonzo and Anna Jensen Terry, and filled all 96 years of his life with learning, work, humor and service. Andrew's boyhood was filled with work on the farm, sharing horse rides with his sisters to go to school in town, and learning to solve problems of all kinds. He graduated from Metropolis (Nevada) High School in 1928 and married Lyla Wixom, an elementary school teacher, in the In 1929 Salt Lake Temple. Andrew and Lyla moved to Provo where he entered Brigham Young University and with a normal graduated For several years he degree. in and Nevada school taught then in Utah, until the Great caused school Depression not to be paid. He purmoney chased a garage in Holden, Utah in 1S33 and eked out a living for his young family by repairing cars, sawing fire wood and fixing things for people. In 1936 he purchased a garage in Beaver, Utah and named it Terry Motor. He remained in business at Terry Motor until 1978 when he retired. Andrew and Lyla are the Lyle parents of six children. died accidentally in 1965. Andrew married Edla Elizabeth Johnson, his wife of 35 years in groat-grandfath- 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they served a mission to the Arizona Hoibrook Mission from 1978-8where Andrew was responsible for the fleet of automobiles. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Lyla and by two daughters, Marian (Hal) Burt and Donna Terry. He is survived by his wife Edla, sons Don (Maralene) Terry of Springville, and Kent (Evelyn) Terry serving a mission in the Philippines Manila Mission, daughters Genene Anderson of Kanosh and Kaye Hanson of Provo, 26 grandchildren and their spouses, 85 and 28 great, great One brother grandchildren.
