Beaver County Sheriffs Report 2004 Beaver County Sheriff's Department arrested the following persons who were booked WeekofAugust2-8- V , into jail: John J. Barondeau, Escalante, Utah, was arrested on a warrant. Barbara Jean Havins, Salt Lake City, Utah, was charged and with Intoxication Possession of Cocaine. ? Michael E. Havins, Salt Lake City, Utah, was charged with Driving Under the Influence of AlcoholDrugs, Child Abuse or on and Driving Neglect, 'i Suspension. . niu Michael Andrew King, Beaver, Utah, was charged with and Mischief Possession of Firearm by Restricted Person. Manuel Vega Patino, Milford, Utah, was arrested on a warrant. Criminal Utah Highway Patrol arrested the following persons who were booked into jail: California Mini World Series Champs Robbie Gurr and Stoney White holding the consolation championship trophy won in Fu!ie1on, California this past wesk. They played in the California community youth baseball mini world series. They have been playing with the Cedar Reds all star team (12 year olds) this past year and have had a wonderful summer. They met boys from all over the United States with a total of 80 teams in the tournament. Stoney and Robbie teamed up with Stoney pitching and Robbie catching. Holding the Seattle Twisters to zero runs in 4 complete innings. The duo not only performed defensively, but also came through with the bats as well. Stoney hitting one home run and both hitting several RBI's. The boys and their families enjoyed the great weather on the beaches, the Anaheim Angels vs Seattle Mariners baseball game, Disneyland and California Adventure, pin trading and BBQ's. Great job boys. 1 Brent Marcus Whitehead, Silverthorne, Colorado, was charged with Possession cf Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Nicholas Orville Woffard, was Colorado, Kremmling, charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Driving Under the Influence of AlcoholDrugs. This years 15th Annual Beaver Pioneer Cruisers Car Show was a huge success. There was great food, great prizes and great fun to be had by everyone. We were delighted to see so many local beauties in the show this year. The Best of Show is the coveted award of all and it went to Bob Jenkins of Beaver, driving his 1930 Model A. Congratulations Bob. We would like to thank the City Council for their support, the Search & Rescue, and the "Great" businesses of Beaver for their donations and help. We couldn't do it without you all. This years burn out was dedicated to Mike Brannon who came to our car show in 2003 as his last wish. The position representing Local Administrative Area 3 (Milford area), is up for election in Beaver County this yesr. If you own or operate land Beaver. Beaver has more Racing Dates than any other town in Southern Utah including St. George. Says quite a bit for the three clubs that work together to make it happen. The first date was obtained three years ago and is a great addition to the Memorial Day Activities. The Travel Council has worked hard to make this meet go and it is a fun time for family The Beaver County Thoroughbred Association has the second date, which is just a couple of weekends later in June. It is packed with a full day of races and becomes a welcome break from all of the summer work that never goes away. The next two dates are the Lions Clubs. The 24th of July just wouldn't be the same without a couple of days of horse racing to enjoy. It has been said that this year's crowds were close to a record. The Dairy District Derby is always a crowd pleaser. This Saturday is Beaver County Thoroughbred Association's second meet featuring the 21st running of the George Marshall Stakes. The are: and owners entries, Francis Sarah, Yodeling Kinross; My Mulek, Dave Mountain JensenRocky Estate Thoroughbred; Collection, Gayle, Allen and Lyle Carter; Sacred Senor, Dean And Dona Carter; Classic Honor, M. L. Smith; Great Action, Kent Nielsen; and to round out the eight horse field the double entry of Theforceofmachone and Alarm One owned by Wayne Wiseman and Dave Marshall. This race along with many others will make an excellent day of racing to finish out the summer. So come on out and enjoy a day filled with excitement watching what is said to be "The Sport of Kings." They also won the Spring league which consisted of 16 games and went All-St- ar Community Impact Board Approves Grants, Loans Park Progress The Park Committee would like to thank all those who donated to the raffle. Allen Rust won the 22 rifle donated by For Rural Improvement Projects More than $8.6 million in grants and loans have been approved to help finance local improvement projects in rural communities across Utah. The funds were awarded by the Utah Permanent Community Impact Fund Board for such projects as improvements to the Cedar City airport, a new city hall in Toquerville, and equipment for a mobile communications center in Uintah County. The Community Impact Board is a program of the Utah Division of Community Development. It helps state and local agencies and entities that are, or may be, directly or indirectly impacted by mineral resource development on nearby federal lands and the exclusion of those lands from the local tax base. The board provides assistance through grants and loans for the and planning, construction, maintenance of public facilities. The funds also help community .agencies provide public services. The Community Impact Board's next regular funding meeting is scheduled for Dec. 2.
