This year's theme is "Speak Out Against Sexual Violence." Sexual violence is an overwhelming topic and it's little wonder that most people would rather avoid thinking about it. But the number of people directly affected by sexual abuse is staggering. In fact, it is estimated that in 4 women and 1 in 7 men are sexually assaulted sometime in their lifetime. However, because of shame or fear of how their family and friends might react, many victims suffer in silence and don't receive the services they deserve. No one person or organization can eliminate sexual assault on their own. We are reminded during this month that everyone has a role in eliminating the shame associated with sexual assault. Speaking out Against Sexual Violence is an extremely effective public service that everyone can perform. Statistics suggest that we all know a survivor of a sexual violence, even if the person does not disclose the information directly to us. If everyone at SUU and in the Cedar City Community would speak out against sexual violence and Assault Sexual support Awareness Month, more survivors would probably feel more safe and comfortable coming forward, and it would let the perpetrators know it is not okay to do what they are doing. Remember, sexual violence a is not a women's issue-It'- s human issue. It will take the joint "Spring has sprung," and it time to start Ladies' Day. Every Wednesday beginning the 9th of April at 9:30 a.m., the Canyon Breeze Ladies would like to invite all ladies interested in playing golf to meet at the Canyon Breeze Golf Course for a lot of fun and a great way to increase golfing skills. The ladies play 18 holes of golf and then have lunch together in the club house. Mark Wednesdays on your calendar, and come and Have fun.
