PTSA would like to encourage one more important activity this year. We are sponsoring a fund raiser for risers for the Music Department to be used by the bands. These would be a special portable riser that could be used for various needs. PTSA usually spends part of on their funds Teacher This year the Appreciation teachers expressed the desire that that money go towards some need for the high school. After listening to the desires of the community expressed after the winter concert and visiting with Music Department Chairman, Mr. Lee, the PTSA will donate funds to this worthy cause. However, more funds are needed and we would ask residents of Beaver and Mmersville to donate to this crcat endeavor. Donations of any amount would be appreciated. Funds can be taken to the Utah Independent Bank where a special account has been opened or given to one of the secretaries at the high school. If sufficient funds have not been obtained by the Spring concert in May, the PTSA would ask each person in attendance to give a donation to the PTSA at that time. Mr. Allen Lee has done such a fine job with our band and chorus students; these risers would help to showcase the wonderful talent he has brought out in or youth. We would also like to encourage all those who live in our community and care about our children to join the Beaver High School PTSA. Garfield County Pioneers were sent to Southwestern Utah by Anne Swindlehurst, Pres. Brigham Young. Although they found the region harsh and even hostile, they "hunkered down" and persevered. Composed of rugged canyons, deep valleys, and rockymesa's, Garfield County is out of necessity cattle and sheep country. She told of Myra Mayall henrie who came from England. Her mother owned stables of blooded racing horses. Lords and Ladies from surrounding estates would come to watch the races. Myra married William Henrie and they purchased a farm from Joseph Smith. They joined the church and came to Utah with the main body of saints. The Houstons were another prominent family from Garfield County. They suffered many hardships as they left their native home in Scotland and traveled to Utah. They settled in Panguitch. call 387-237- 9. This week am going to tell you about another service that for other seniors provide seniors. A service that brings 438-531- 3 I money to our program. A service that everyone does, everyday and wonder how you got along without it all those years ago. A service that gives our program $2 each time you report it on your volunteer worksheet. It's so simple, it's a TELEPHONE REASSURANCE call. You called your elderly neighbor to see if she needed something because you were headed to town. You call your second cousin, who happens to be a senior citizen, to tell him that your niece is having a baby. See how simple it is, how amazingly simple, but if you don't let your director know that you made 10 calls last month and write it on your volunteer worksheet, then we can't report it. We can report everything you put on that worksheet from writing letters to getting your blood pressure checked. So, next time you pick up the phone to call your friend, write it down and turn it in at the end of the month. We appreciate each and every one of you that turn in a volunteer worksheet every month. Your time spent is invaluable to our program and we thank you with all of our hearts. Remember, you are as young as you feel, think and believe... just believe. Truth hath a quiet breast.
