Rondo and Beverly were married on February 21, 1952 after being introduced at the wedding of Beverly's sister, Janell, and Rondo's brother McKay. The two of them raised a family of three; Jana (Steven) Bradshaw, James Rondo Farrer (deceased), and Cyndee Lance. They currently have six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Rondo and Beverly currently enjoy each others company by working at the temple, taking trips to their cabin, and spoiling their grandchildren. Company is always welcome at their home with a cold drink and a story or private family party occasion. Senior news.... With around, it ail the wind blowing feels like March just a cooler. Patti brought over 13 ladies from Milford to see this historic event. Everyone got a couple .flags to wave, ana all were sipping hot cocoa or stepping into the building to get warm. A photographer from the Tribune took a picture of the ladies in front of the Opera House, they were pretty excited. Some of the group followed Roy up around the corner as he carried the Torch. To sum it up, Lola said it best "that was awesome, little really." The Beaver seniors hosted a dinnerdance on the 8th at 6 pm. 40 people hung around to hear the "Red Rock Wranglers" perform. They played for over an hour and everyone had such a good time. The opening ceremonies of the Olympics and the Basketball game in Beaver were pretty tough competition that evening, but the people that stayed said they wouldn't have missed it for the anything. Thanks Roy, Anne, Laura, Curly and Ken for the great evening of entertainment. Minersville and Milford seniors had great Valentine's day dinners. Did you play pool at your senior center? Did you play cards? Maybe a game of bingo! These are all considered recreation units, if your center is not tracking these sessions they should be doing so for our records. What this data shows is the need for activities. We encourage each director to provide new and interesting means of recreation. This could include aerobics at your local pool, walking with other seniors on the high school track, attending a play or going to the movies. Our budget includes monies for recreation activities. We use these funds for play tickets, craft projects or providing recreation equipment for all the centers. You can track your own recreation units on a Volunteer worksheet provided for you at your local senior center. Let us know of new activities you would like to try or projects you would like to see in your center. The more we know, the more we can help. Beryl stated that the acute nurse's station needs a wheelchair scaie, long term care needs new speakers that hang on the wall and an ice cart and the lab needs a blood washer. The board voted to purchase the wheelchair scale, the speakers and the ice cart. The next goal is to raise enough money for the lab to get the blood Gaytha washer. The next Book FaV will be on April 18th. The last book fair resulted in the gift shop receiving $100 worth of merchandise. This seemed very generous, as the volunteers don't really have to handle the paperwork. The Gift Shop will be open from 10 to 4 during the month of February and March. Pending staffing arrangements. If you are interested in volunteering in the gift shop, contact Carma Sly. The gift shop staff wishes more members of the community would come out to the hospital and take a look at all the unique gifts for sale. The gift shop also has greeting cards for all occasions for only $1 each. Come on out and take a look. Maurine Sly is the new sunshine volunteer. If you have a birthday wish, get well or sympathy message let her know and she'll take care of them for you.
