BEA (Beaver Education Assoc ) Letter: ' It seems that the Beaver County Commission is determined to construct a dollar addition to the county jaii with or without the approval of the taxpayers. But of course the taxpayers will foot the bill. Salt Lake schools are recruiting teachers from other countries and have permanent substitutes because there are not teachers available. You say weed out the bad? What will we have to replace them with, a substitute? This is a problem in our state. It hasn't hit Beaver County, but it could as we start looking for high school teacher replacements. for punishment as anndustry? Economic development is essential for the health of Beaver County, agreed. Surely bucks applied to a real business enterprise (or two) would truly lelieve the burden on the county's taxpayers. If we are going to build further facilities, why not build and staff a youth center. help correct the attitude of our as our population increases and families move into our stale. Education needs funding that keeps up with the growth. In Beaver County, the district (Mr. Petersen) has said we reached a low last year, pretty much the same this year and that the following years will show growth. We have asked the legislature to find revenue they can prob- drop in local criminal activity. But do we really want to enlarge on the stiyma and misery associated with crime and growing provide for this. The last two years, they have been good to teachers. We appreciate the tokens given but the bucket needs more than a drop. We still continue to spends hundreds of dollars out of our own pockets. New teachers are leaving budget g lems. Also to be considered are the latest statistics showing that crime rates are down. Then, too, the current national and state movements are toward alternatives to incarceration for nonviolent criminals. In no way does this letter intend to demean the structure, nor the function of, the still new public safety facility. The administration of the county correctional department is respected state-wid- e and is no doubt hope you will take the time to read, understand and support our reasons. A year ago when teachers threatened a strike, Governor Leavitt set up a task force to revlook for sources of enue and offer a solution. In a years time, little has been done. Ronnie Roberts two Geoige Sunday for the blessing of twin grandchildren of their daughter Sharon & husband. Ann Marshall traveled to St. George this past week attending school affairs. Several members of the Yardley family and Wilson ly of Cedar City were in St. Geoige Sunday to see their new grandson, son of Randy & Kim fami- blessed in Sacremont Services He was named Kaden Randle Yardley. The hostess served a lovely buffet dinner to Yardley. the Wilson Yaidley families following church. The Beaver Betterment Club invited ail members to attend a dinner at the Garden of Eat'n Tuesday evening. A large crowd attended to enjoy the festivities. A program was presented with Scott Fothehngham as M.C.. Lovely Poinsettia plants were .presented to the ladies holding the winning numbers. Toys were brought by each member to be given to needy & Jane Robinson. They were greeted by her lusty cry at 8:1 5 pm She weighed 8 lbs 2 oz. and was 20 12 inches long. This was a wonderful day for all of the family and friends that were there. Brailee is the granddaughter of Robert Yardley. Sarah Yardley. David Robinson and Marian Coon. are Ray & Mary Yardley, Rhoda Valeria Stephenson, Robinson and Clark Gillins. Dec. 3rd, On Sunday Brailee was blessed by her great grandpa Ray Yardley in the LDS Beaver 4th Ward. Brailee, along with her mom & dad would like to thank her family and friends for helping to make this the second most wonderful day of their lives. The Robinson Family Great-grandpare- & & James She was bom Dec. 4. 1308 in Somerset, CO . to Lewis and Lillian Rappleye Petersen. Irma married Garden R. Snow in the LDS Temple Manti 1935. July 10, David A. She graduated from BYU and Utah State University receiving a teaching degree, taught school in Idaho, Carbon and Emery School Drstricts for 15 years. Upon retiring she taught preschool in her home. Che" loved teaching, her students, and they loved her. She served an LDS Mission in the Eastern states, held many callings in her church and remained faithful and firm in her testimony. The loves of he life were her children, grandchildren, and beautiful flowers. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, and two granddaughters. She is survived by her children. During his youth he Irved in Salt Lake City, graduating from Brighton High School. He served in the U.S. Married Army Reserves. Stratton. had three daughters. later divorced. We have had the past ten years the same Santa Ctaus come to our home to visit the grandchildren. He is so jolly and they love for him to come so they can sit on his lap with stars in their eyes as they tell what they would like. He is always so patient with each one.
