A Milford man was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Open Container of Alcohol, and on Driving Suspension Revocation. A man from Milford was charged with Rape, Supplying to Alcohol and Minor, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. A Milford man was charged with Driving Under the Influence r. 29-Ap- ; 1 J J - of Alcohol. Utah Highway Patrol arrested and man from Richfield, Utah who was booked into jail on charges of Speeding and on Driving Suspension Revocation. Beaver City Presented A Plaque The Beaver City Council was presented a Letter of congratulations from Governor Michael O. Leavitt and a hockey puck by John Williams of the Five County Association of Governments, as recognition of Beaver City's commitment to become a 21" Century Community. The hockey puck is a reminder of the theme for the 21st Century Communities Initiative. The theme is "Skating to Where the Puck Will Be", a statement attributed to hockey great, Wayne Gretzky. The challenge of the 21 8 Century Communities programs is to: Prepare rural Utah for unprecedented prpulation and visitor growth. Create new jobs and reduce unemployment. Diversify rural economies. Protect quality of life. A diversified committee consisting tifeveTttkin.'Max Anderson, Mark Nielsen, Denny LaBaron, Joe White, Joanna Beeson, Lorrie Peterson, Mel Osborn, Raymond Goodwin, Brent Stapley, and Betty Miller has been asked to perform up to thirteen different assessments of the city's preparedness for the future. Since 1913, concerned citizens have banded together to provide prevention and early detection guidelines, patient services and resource information, research funding, and the most current cancer updates and findings for health care The American providers. Day Care Orientation An orientation meeting for people interested in becoming a day care provider will be held on Thursday, April 15, 1999, at 10a.m. in the Work Force Services North Building located at 201 East 500 North in Richfield. Interested persons must register with Melody state licensor at Staples and pick up an (435)896-127orientation packet prior to the meeting. The meeting will be for two hours, there is no cost for the orientation, and please 1 do not bring children. Beaver High Same as Belknap. 1 To 1- 2- Be Offered Salt Lake Regional Medical Center will offer mammogram screenings to the public at the Beaver Valley Medical Center, 85 North 400 East in Beaver, on Thursday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through its Mobile Mammography Program. Dispatched from the facilities of Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, a specially Mobile equipped Mammography Van travels throughout the State of Utah, and surrounding areas, providing mammography services to women who otherwise would need to travel to a larger city to receive the procedure. The individual mammogram films are processed in Salt Lake City and women are notified of the results within four weeks. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in American women ages 35 to 55. Statistics show that one in eight women will develop breast cancer at some time in her life. Breast cancer will kill about 46,000 American women this year, while 182,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed nationwide. Mammography screening is the most pertinent factor in detecting breast cancer and early detection provides the best opportunity for breast preservation. Most mammogram screenings are walk-i- n cases, however an appointment is encouraged. Arthur Passage, a resident in the Long Term Care Facility at Beaver Valley Hospital, assisted Helen Gale Lee to draw the lucky number. Arda and husband, Roger, have 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and are owners of Roger's Shell in Beaver. Asked if she was going to spend the money right away, she said the tree was too cute to take apart and that family and friends wanted to just admire it right now. Proceeds of $ 400 will be added to the $400 donation from Colleen Lee's family to be presented this year to a graduating senior who will attend college.
