He was booked into jail. . Theft of a pipe gate from North Creek was reported. A citation was issued to a Milford man for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by Adult Minor. (Note: An "adult minor" is a person who is over 18 years of age but under 21 years of age.) A Beaver man was arrested by UHP and booked into jail New Vision Screening Camera Thanks to the generosity of the Civic groups in Beaver County and the Beaver County School District, we are one of the first counties in the state to purchase its own Vision Screening Camera. The Lions Club of Milford, the Lions Club of Beaver and the Beaver Betterment Club each donated $500. along with the School Districts match of $1 ,500. this made the purchase of this valuable screening tool possible. This demonstrates the great service these groups provide for our community. . This camera has many capabilities and can screen for six common eye problems in our children, the most common being "lazy eye." In the past we have done a vision screen for "lazy eye' as the children entered Kindergarten and if it was detected it required about 6 months of treatment with a patch. This is a great social barrier to a child just starting school. With this tool we can detect lazy eye and treat it much earlier. If we can catch this condition when a child is 3 years old it can be treated in a matter of weeks. This screening is available at the Public Health Department and takes five to ten minutes to complete. There is a $3.00 charge for the screening. All parents are encouraged to bring their child in once each year beginning at about 3 years of age. A good rule would be during their birth month. We will continue to screen our school annually and we will use this camera if there is any question about your childs vision. A great advantage to this new equipment is that we will be able to screen handicapped children who have been unscreenable in the past. If you need us to come to your home for these children, we for times that we can accomcan arrange it. Please call the S.W.U. Public Health Dept. at 438-248- 2 modate you with this screening.
