Lansing, MI 48823 1 . 1 Salt Lake City, Utah Dear Governor Bangerter: This letter is in protest for Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources citation number '112344 issued by conservation officer number 162 believed to be named L. Edward Liese (signature illegible) for speeding on an interstate highway . While traveling south on Interstate 15 in Iron county in my small compact car with the flow of traffic I suddenly became aware of a dark large heavy truck approaching to push me off the road. I was feared for my life that I was being attacked by bandits. I thought the dark heavy truck was going to pass. I slowed to allow the truck to pass but he was determined not to. Rather than pass, the driver chose to follow, approaching 20 feet from the rear bumper of my small compact car. I was afraid to stop for fear that I would be robbed or my mother would be harmed. At that point I felt that if I increased my speed the marauding vehicle would not pursue. However as I increased speed, the dark large heavy truck came closer to my bumper. This unsafe chase continued for 3 miles. At that point, I noticed that the driver of the dark large heavy truck turned on some strange flashing lights in the front grill of his truck. Was this a belated Halloween trick or a law enforcement officer of some sort? I stopped not knowing that this was an official officer of the law. The dark large heavy truck stopped behind flashing strange unfamiliar lights. Looking at the front of the truck from the inside of my car, there wis no visual identification as a law enforcement vehicle. A small man exited and announced himself as a game warden and proceeded to write me a citation for speeding on the federal interstate highway. 1 was not speeding. I was forced to increase the speed of my small compact car to escape the threat of the dark large heavy truck. The principle of this letter is to object to the State of Utah for giving jurisdiction to game wardens not qualified or trained to enforce trafffic laws on interstate highways. Highway patrolmen are trained professionals and do not use unsafe tricks such as chasing a motorist to force him to speed. The duties of a game warden should be to protect our wildlife resources and arrest violators thereof. Not to harass the freedom of United States citizens. Elmo Gillies, above all, is a hard worker, loving husband, and a absorptioa SWEDEN-Medi- cal researchers at the University of Kuopio, in Finland, have discovered (accidentally) a new weight-los- s formula. The new discovery appears to enable an overweight individual to lose pounds and fatty tissue without conventional dieting or exercise. Scientists made the discovery while searching for a formula to lower cholesterol. In a controlled study of a test group of people, cholesterol levels remained unchanged but the doctors were astounded to find that every patient who used the formula lost weight. The published report of this study stated, "A highly significant decrease in body weight was seen" in patients who received the formula. The formula was then tested at another prestigious European university, hospital. Again, all patients lost weight even though they did not change their eating habits. The report detailing this study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, stated: "Body weight was significantly reduced even though the patients were specifically asked not to alter their dietary habits". One patient in this study lost more than 30 pounds. According to one informed source, the active ingredient comes from a 100 natural botanical source and or stimulmts. 'Several people have asked me for copies of the Beaver High School Song ("All Hail To You, Our Alma Mater"). I suggest that these folks ask, or write to Carol Kesler, at Beaver High School. I think she can help you. Amy Yardley, senior at B.H.S., has a scholarship at Stevens-HennagCollege in Provo, where she will be studying secretarial skills. Amy is the daughter of Sarah and Robert Yardley. Laurel and Joe Fotheringham, of Spanish Fork, will be leaving later this month for a temple mission in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Fotheringhams and Golda Murray, of Mapleton, drove to Beaver, where Ellaleen Cartwright joined them for a trip to Las Vegas, where they had a family reunion at the home of Vera and Warren Waters.
