Mr. and Mrs. Allen Willden and family are visitors at the home of Allen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Willden. The Beaver area has a new missionary, Elder Williams from Mesa, Arizona. He spoke in the 1st Ward Sacrament meeting Sunday. Dale Eyre recently released as Bishop of the Minersville Ward and now a new High Councilman also spoke during the meeting. Lola Hutchings was happy to have her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prescott of Salt Lake City visit with her on their way home from down south. Sherrie Ruesch performed a clog dance and played the piano for us Wednesday at the Geriatric Ward. We really enjoyed it. Merle Lessing visited at the Geriatric Ward with Ruby Esta Warren and other family members. Ruby Grimshaw also had visits from those she knows and wanted to hear from. I certainly miss Sam. He came to ' see me every day, sometimes twice. Nelda Walker and Jasper received word that Jasper's brother, Floyd Walker, 86, died on February 9, 133G in Carson City, Nevada. He leaves one son Eddie of Carson City, and one daughter Margaret of Spokane, Washington. Thelma Huntington Barton, 87, passed away February 17, 1990 at her home in Beaver. Born in Stateline, Nevada August 2, 1902 to John and Alice Melissa Allen Huntington. At age seven her family moved to Beaver. She was a resident of Beaver 55 years, Nevada 7, California 8 and Idaho 10. Thelma was a gifted musician and was endowed with a beautiful soprano voice. She used her talents to enrich the communities in which she lived. She sang at approximately 250 funerals and programs in Beaver and Southern Utah. At the Murdock Academy in Beaver, she studied voice with Gerrit deJong, who later became a renowned voice instructor at B.Y.U. She spent a year studying music at I -.- ... P? theUofU. Married Kenneth Asa Barton, of Beaver, November 20, 1921 in Richfield, Utah. They purchased the Beaver Drug Store that year which she was active in operating. She was a very generous person who was always concerned with the welfare of those around her. She had much compassion for those not as fortunate as she. Mother of six children, an infant son, Byron preceded her in death. Survived by husband Ken of Beaver, son John K. (Jean) and daughter Jan Jensen (Delos) of Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter Faye Henrie (Keith) of Thousand Oaks, CA., son Brent (Joyce) of Santa Ana, CA., daughter Kaye Bailey (Stan) of Clayton, CA., sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a sister, Lucille Williams, Sun City, Arizona. Funeral services were .held February 21, 1990 at the Beaver 4th Ward Chapel. Interment in Mt. View Cemetery, Beaver, Utah. Virginia and family. A program will be presented at 10:00 p.m. An open house in their honor will be held March 3rd in the Richfield 1st Ward Cultural Hall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. is Denise a 1987 graduate Beaver High School. She has attended SUSC for three years, and is Child in a degree pursuing Psychology. RichGreg is a 1986 graduate of field High School. He served a two year mission to Coventry England. He is currently attending SUSC where he is pursuing a degree in Architecture and Computer Design. The couple will make their home in Cedar City where they both will continue their studies. MAR. Lelia Carter Saturday, February 10, 1990, Sheral and Lelia Carter celebrated their Sixtieth Anniversary in the Minersville Church with their close family. Those able to attend, about 130 people, came to share a buffet luncheon and program with the Carters in honor of this special time. For the program, those attending were treated to an overview of the couple's lives In the form of a narrative play. The play featured their children, grandchildren and and celebrated the Importance of this posterity In the lives of the Carters. Leila spent her time raising their seven children, a girl and six boys. Both have served in various LDS church callings, Including a calling to do initiatory work In the St. George Temple. The two have received awards for their beautiful garden and yard. They enjoy horse racing, of hunting and trapping, but most all taey appreciate and enjoy their family and special friends. On Friday and Saturday, Gary and Hazel Bradshaw of West Valley City, Kirk and Mai Ling Stevens and two children of Mana, Grant and Lisa and Cammie Bradshaw of Salt Lake, Jared and Wendy and Tyler LaVel Bradshaw of Salt lake. Jason and Heidi and Ashlie Bradshaw of Salt Lake, all came for a birthday party for their Grandpa Norman Hutchings birthday. He was surprised and enjoyed all his family members at a wonderful dinner at the Senior Citizen's Center. Gary and Hazel stayed with me Saturday night and went home Sunday morning for church activities. I enjoyed a lovely visit with Mary Dell Corral last Tuesday. We were both at the hospital to have blood tests. 'Robert and Tonya Dally of St. George visited their parents, Clyde and Patsy Webb and family and other family members. Also Monty Webb and a friend from B.Y.U. visited with Monty's parents and family. Mr. and Mrs. Alan (Pam Willden and family of Roy, Utah have been visiting Randy and Colleen, also Alan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Willden. Saturday night Cecil and Bea Willden, Pam and Alan and Randy and Colleen went to Cedar City. On Sunday they spent the day with Randy and Colleen. Pam and Alan returned home Monday. On Monday, President's Day, Lynn and Glenna Bradshaw and family and Bret and Denise Bradshaw had dinner with me. On Tuesday I had two of my granddaughters come and visit and have lunch together. They were Cindy Roberts and two boys from Parowan and her sister Julie Rowley of Greenriver, Utah. Julie had been visiting with her sister in Parowan. One night last week Sherre Bradshaw spent the night with Mindy Beaumonts girls. Mr. and Mrs. Bret Bradshaw went to Cedar City Saturday night with Denises' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chad Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Dana (Teresa) Pickering and family of Enterprise, Utah visited with Teresas' parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Cox and Lapriel Edwards, her grandmother. On Sunday, Lapriel Edwards fixed a nice dinner for the family before they returned home. ' Shon Edwards Receives Eagle Scout Award Shon Edwards received his Eagle Scout Award on February 11, 1998 at the Greenville Ward. His Eagle project was the building and placing of a Bulletin Board next to the mail boxes in Greenville. He was assisted by the Scouts and leaders and Ray Kesler of Greenville and Walt Kerksiek of Beaver. Shon is the son of Mrs. Kay Reed Northfield, Minnesota and the late Ricke Edwards. He is living with his grandmother, Bessie Edwards and attending Beaver High School. Other grandparents are Mrs. Helen Richards and Leona Smith of Summit and Julia Edwards of Beaver. The program went as follows: Wayne Bradshaw conducted. The opening song was "God Bless America", accompanied by Annette Shepherd, directed by Bessie Edwards. The opening prayer was given by Deloy Shepherd. The Presentation of Colors: Greenville Scouts, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The Scouts escorting Shon to the stand were: Toni, Phillip, and Eric Jessup, and Chris and James Kesler. Remarks by Ray Kesler. "I'm a Small Voice" was sung by Brent Edwards and Ralph Fordham. A Tribute to Shon: A tape was played from his mother, a sister Natalie and his stepfather, Jerry Reed. Eric Jessup presented the Eagle. This was followed by remarks from Shon Edards. The Eagle Oath Challenge was given by Bishop Cliff Myers. A tribute was given by his grandmother, Bessie Edwards and the closing prayer was given by Ryan Shepherd. The retiring of colors' by the Greenville Scouts ended the program. A luncheon was prepared and served by members of the family and ward. of |
