Show THE BEAVER PRESS NOVEMBER 17, 1988-PA- GE 4 Sheriff's Report Something Special For Sunday WEEK OF NOVEMBER 10th report of a van hitting a gas pump at Ray's Phillips 66 Station in Beaver resulted in the apprehension of two juveniles. A report was also received at about the same time of a gas skip from the Kwik Stop at the south Beaver Interchange in the amount of $5.53 by the same van. The two juveniles were traveling in a van listed as stolen out of West Valley City. They were also being sought for a gas skip out of v.-- From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Under 3 Can Eat Off Mom's Plate) $6.95 $3.95 Child Election Thank You Beaver Briefs to the 236 voters who cast their ballots for me. Although I did not get elected to the School Board, I feel I gained a Great Deal from this election. By going I met alot of nice people and made many new friends. One of the things I was able to accomplish was getting 130 people signed up for adult night classes at Beaver High. This was only in Precinct 1, and I was only able to contact 40 percent of the people (some of the people weren't home). A subject brought to my attention was the lack of communication between the public and the School Board. If the School Board, really wants input from the public (as I've been told they do) then they should start having their meetings in the evening, instead of 10 in the morning. If they did this, it would take two meetings a month. These meetings could start at 6:30 in the evening and end at 9:30 or 10:00 This is the after election time for "Thank You's" and therefore appropriate to mention a few names. We want to thank the volunteers that made sure that everyone of our votes were counted. They are: Yvonne Janell Farrer, Moss, LeeAnn Joseph, Vicki Yardley, Leo Paul Helen Barton, Kanell, Christensen, and David Small (of Carr Printing) from Salt Lake City. door-to-do- This staff of volunteers start the job of counting the votes after they have already completed their normal days work. So "thanks" from a grateful community. Also, at this time, the Press would like to thank the following people for opening their homes for the registration of voters: Vicki Hutchings, Ellaleen Cartwright, Bessie Edwards, Connie Lee Marshall, Beth Edwards, and Marshall Crane. The candidates who took time to meet the people and state their views and therefore keep our alive democratic and system strong. To all our citizens that exercised their right to vote by casting their ballots throughout the day, also the absentee ballots that were sent in. Hope to see more of our citizens out next election, we need 'to see more of you at the to keep our polling places democracy strong. Thanks everyone! ! Thank You I wish to thank all those who supported me in the election, both with votes of Thank-Yo- u encouragement. I am for the opportunity to serve another term on the Beaver County School Board. I pledge that I will represent the people of this county" with the best of my ability and understanding of the educational needs of '' our students. Thank you C. David White grateful ( p.m. This would accomplish several things; One, it would make it possible for parents that work during the day to attend the meetings. Two, it would make it possible for members of the PTA to attend the meetings (as they do in many communities). Three, it would allow a representative from each student council to attend and each school could have a Teacher's Representa- tive there also. The input from these different groups could help the School Board make some prudent and wise : decisions. ; The most important part of this communication is to get the School Board Agenda out to the Public in Advance, so the interested parties could attend these meeting. these suggestions will , I hope someday become a reality! I would also like to thank Superintendent Haslem and the Beaver County School Board, on behalf of the Beaver Youth Basketball Program for once again letting the 200 plus children, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from Beaver and Minersville use the old and new gym for our basketball games for this Season. would like to commend them all for their actions in having the hazardous lighting in the old gym removed and new, safe lighting system installed. This lighting system will be a great asset to all the groups who will be using the old gym in the future. Contrary to what a few people may think I did not run for the School Board sett in District I for the $100.00 a month salary available to a School Board menber or the $285.00 Medical Plan, or the Social Security Benefits, and also an eventual pension plan. I wouldn't have accepted any of the above benefits. 1 feel that the money for these benefits can better be used for the students and teachers of Beaver County. It is obvious to me that it was not part of Gods plan for me to serve on the School Board at this time. Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their Love and Support. "88-89- " Notice For I Home-Ownin- g Veterans veterans that are Homeowning seeking to escape from high real estate loan payments, unable to make their monthly loan payment for financial reasons or merely selling their home for other reasons should beware of buyers offering a "quick" solution. Unless the loan is paid off or the Veterans Administration (VA) has approved a Release of Liability, the veteran remains responsible for the loan payments no matter what the prospective buyer may say. In case of default and foreclosure of a VA guaranteed loan, a veteran becomes indebted to the United States Government in the amount of any claim paid the loan holder (lender) under the VA loan guaranty provisions. In Utah, a number of veterans who bought homes with their VA loan guaranty entitlement have been victims of an "equity skimming" fraud scheme. According to Douglas Wadsworth, Director, VA Regional Office in Salt Lake City, the scheme works like this: to sell is A veteran attempting approached by someone offering to buy the house by taking over the loan obligation. The veteran may receive a small payment in exchange for signing a deed to the property which is the security for the VA guaranteed loan. The buyer asks only that the veteran move out immediately so that the property can be rented as soon as possible. Unless the deed contains the "VA Assumption Clause" the original r remains liable for the veteran-owneloan. To apply for a Release of Liability, should request the a veteran necessary forms and instructions from the VA Regional Office that originally guaranteed the loan. Veterans with homes in Utah that were purchased with VA loans should contact the VA Regional Office. 125 South State Street (P.O. Box 11500), Salt Lake City, Utah 84147.
