Marshall Purse 12-1- 5 Food, fun, magic and dance will all play a part in the Beaver County Fair this year. The fair will be held on August 12th through 15th at the fairgrounds east of Minersville. Following the horse pull will be a dance with the music provided by the Bill Sherratt Band. Cost for the dance is $2.00 per person. ANGELA MARTIN: Angela is the daughter of Brent and Ann Martin. She has dark brown hair and hazel green eyes and Is 5 feet 6 inches. She graduated this spring from Beaver High School. She has been on the honor roll for 6 years. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Top Ten Seniors, Miss Drill Utah Finalist (2 years) and the winner of Miss Southern Utah Drill, NSA All American (3 years), Girls State. She graduated in 1987 from Beaver High School where she was a Sterling Scholar, officer of the drill team and selected as Utah girls State representative. She was also a director of a high school musical. Deborah has blond hair and blue eyes and is 5 feet 4 inches tall. She plans to attend college and SUSC where she has a scholarship. She enjoys singing, dancing and riding and training horses. 438-508- 0 r? it i I soft-bal- Up-Lan- Eagle Scout Projects Thank You ' There will be a meeting Sunday, August 9, at 6:00 p.m. for scouters, boys, and parents who need projects to complete the requirements for "Eagle Scout". This meeting will be held at the Fire House and projects that the fire department can sponsor will be explained by Connie Grimshaw, Beaver Fire Chief. There have been many ' projects completed over the past years that have really benefited the public safety for residents in the area. If boys have any special ideas or suggestions they certainly will be discussed at this meeting. The Fire Department has over 15 projects that will qualify as an Eagle Scout project. . Thoroughbred Association Plans Children's Races On August 8th, the Beaver County Thoroughbred Association will be featuring two pony races for the kids. These races will be for children 12 and under. There will be a Shetland pony race and a kid pony ( where ponies must be 14 hands and under). To enter, the races bring your pony to the race track on August 8th. The other six horses are Classy Cajun, running first in the trials, and owned by Lyle and Allan Carter; Buck's Encore, who has won 6 of 7 races, including the trial race and the Cedar City Futurity. Buck's Encore will be ridden by Claude Lyman; Wickenburg ran 2nd in the fastest trial heat and is really improving according to trainer, Melanie Lyman. He is owned by Richard Manzione; Miss Mash Mac won wire to wire in its trial heat, and is owned by Kent Mclnelly and will be ridden by Joe Tonahill; Winner Ridge ran 2nd in the trials in only his 2nd start and is fit to run 6 12 furlongs. He is owned by Blake Marshall and Barry Thiriot. Winner Ridge will be ridden by Scott Dahl. Liberty Canyon ran a 2nd in the trials and is owned by Cal Dunn and will be ridden by Kelly Stallings. These are the eight horses that will run in Saturdays big race. Post time is 2:00 p.m. NATTALY GOFF: Nattaly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Goff. Nattaly has blond hair and hazel eyes and Is 5 feet 10 Inches. She graduated from Beaver High School in 1987. She is a Sterling Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society, attended Girls State, is listed in Who's Who Among America's High School and was chosen as Miss Scholastic for the Senior Class Spotlight. She played volleyball, basketball, softball and participated in track In high school. She plans to attend B.Y.U. this fall. Volleyball Workshop On August 17th and 18th, a volleyball workshop will be held in the new gym starting at 9:00 a.m. The workshop will consist of conditioning, skill techniques, game time and fun. Those interested need to come prepared with gym shoes, knee pads, shorts or sweats and a ': x -- 4 hard hat. There will also be a change saddle race. There will be four horses, with two riders and the riders must wear a hard hat. ANGELA DANETTE HOLM: Angela is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holm. She will graduate in the spring of 1988 from Milford High School. She enjoys looking at old cars and taking pictures of them. She also likes to work with children. Angela plans to attend college and obtain a degree in teaching or as a social worker. The Renegade Lounge is featuring the Hole in the Wall Gang starting at 9:00 p.m. Plan an evening of entertainment and dancing after you've enjoyed the horse races. n Little Britches Rodeos Planned Beaver Riding Club is sponsoring their annual series of Little Britches Rodeos starting Saturday, August 8th at the Beaver Canyon Rodeo Grounds. Entries are open to all boys and girls 0 to 15 years of age. Sign up can be done 30 minutes before starting time. The second rodeo will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 8:00 p.m. The third and final round will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 12:30 p.m. This is an annual event for the AA Campventioneers Labor in Beaver.
