Wild turkeys, however, don't eat so high on the hog. They seem to get by on acorns, corn and soybeans left over in farmers' fields, insects (especially grasshoppers), leaves, grasses and an occasional bit of gravel. Question: Has a human ever been attacked by a turkey? Answer: Although the revenge motive is definitely there, the answer is "no." a man in However, Windham, Ohio, got his name in the news when he was charged with with a assaulting his brother-in-lafrozen turkey. Question: Is it tough being born a turkey? Answer: turkeys have a nasty habit of standing up when they lay eggs. Turkey producers try to counter this by adding cushioning materials to the laying cages, but many a prospective bird still bites the dust when mother turkey "bombs away." Question: Do female turkeys (hens) have more breast meat than male (torn) turkeys? Answer: If compared at the same age, hens tend to have slightly more breast meat than toms. Information A HOLIDAY SAFETY CHECK LIST By Beaver City Corporation Citizens should take care over the holiday season to use electricity safely. When it comes time to trim your home and yard with lights and decorations, make a safety list and check it twice. The following safety tips will help ensure safe and happy holidays. Outdoor lighting and decoration requires special precautions and light sets and ornaments should not be used outside the house unless they have been specifically approved for outdoor use and carry the seal of the UL (Underwriters Laboratories). Don't hang outdoor decorations in wet or damp conditions and keep ladders away from power lines. To guard against leaving outdoor lights on overnight, timers may be used. Some other important safety hints: Check lights and cords for signs of wear or breakage, fraying, or loose connections. Do not overload circuits and never place electric cords under a carpet, under a door, or around sharp edges. Keep cords away from foot traffic, indoors and outside. Turn off lights and decorations when you leave your home.
