Kanab won their game against Monticello 33 to 0. It is the 15th time in the last 18 years that Coach Marshall's troops have faught for the State title. Kanab is the s. defending State Champions, but the Beavers are looking forward to avenging an earlier 14 to 7 loss to the Cowboys in Kanab. The BeaverKanab game will be played as a part of a double header at Cedar on Southern Utah State College's field. Game time will be Saturday, November 15, 1986, at 11:00 a.m. Last Saturday the Beavers dominated the Eagles, who had earlier upset Kanab 4 to 0. .The Beavers and received the opening kick-of- f actually lost 16 yards when Kelsey went back to throw and the ball slipped out of his hand. Scott George then punted the ball to the 35 yard line. On the first play for Duchesne, TB Wayne Moon scooted off the left side of the Beavers defense and went untouched for a 35 yard TD run. The pass attempt for the extra point was no good and the Eagles had a 6 to 0 lead. Needless to say, the Beavers were shocked as only 1 minute, 41 seconds had ticked off the clock. However, the Beavers came hustling back with Wade Marshall, David Albrecht, Darren Davis and Shawn Limb doing the big damage. In this drive Limb picked up 31 yards. The touchdown was scored on a QB sneak by big Joe Kelsey from the one yard line. Yancy Edwards toed the extra point and the Beavers had all the points they needed to win 7 to 6. In the second period, and after an exchange of punts, Kelsey broke A- ,888S Alan Davis, LaDell Eyre, David McMullin, Mike Breinholt, Daniel Marshall, Wade Oakden, and Brad Harris. The Beavers had 305 yards offensively with several running backs sharing in that yardage. The defense played extremely well with Webster and Kelsey leading the attack. They had excellent support from David McMullin, Alan Davis, Scott George, Lance White, Jared Harris, Ivan Spencer, Darren Davis, LaDell Eyre, and Wade Marshall. Remember this Saturday, the Beavers will meet the Kanab Cowboys for the State Championship at 11:00 a.m. at Thunderbird Stadium in Cedar City. With Albrecht running to the 5, and then Scott George powering it in from the 5 the Beavers led 14 to 7. On Duchesne's next possession, John Webster intercepted the first of three passes oof the day. Kelsey then rolled right and found Albrecht alone in the end zone for a 12 yard TD pass. Edwards toed the third kick and the Beavers took a 21 to 6 lead into the lockeroom at halftime. In the third quarter, Duchesne took the kick-of- f and aided by a face mash penalty did cross the 50 yard line. But a Webster's interception stopped the drive. The rest of the quarter was played with the Eagles trying to keep the Beavers out of the end zone. The Beavers did tally late in the quarter when Darren Davis powered in for a score behind Alan davis' block. Edwards kicked his 4th point to make the score 28 to 6. The fourth quarter saw both teams airing out the football but to no avail as the Beaver defense toyed with the Eagle offense. coach Marshall singled out Coach Naddou's offensive line for an excellent job.
