This very seldom happens, in fact this is the only time this reporter has seen it happen in six years. Present were City Manager Gordon Baker, City Recorder Hal Lessing, Mayor Robert Christainsen, and Councilmembers Val Smith and Arlo Messinger. Discussion of the new water well being drilled for Beaver City was part of the agenda. The 26 inch shaft is down to a depth of 553 feet and will be continued to 600 feet. Some tools have been lost in the well and their retrieval is creating a problem. The triple head bit being used was graduated from 10 inches at the bottom to 20 inches in the middle and 26 inches at the top. One of the burred bit tips broke loose when a bearing wore out and knocked some metal off the 20 inch and 10 inch bits UDOT CREW working on removal of culvert in preparation for pouring new bridge abutments. A representative from the Young Electric Sign Company was present and said a price of $21,000 would include building it, including four steel poles, painting it, and lighting it. It will be approximately 20 feet by 50 feet and will be the biggest one in Utah. The Travel Council will contribute $2000 immediately and a minimum of $1,500 a year for 5 years towards the project, or a total of $9,500. The Young Electric Company put up the sign at the South end of town, although it was of wooden construction and there was some discussion of repairs to it. Everyone was interested in moving this project along as quickly as possible. The Young Electric Co. will go ahead with blueprints and ideas for design and the City Council will vote on awarding the contract as soon as possible so work can begin. It was estimated that work will take from six to eight weeks. CLOWNS AERIALISTS ACROBATS ELEPHANTS inn 1UU MINUTES THRILLS LAUGHS lftft |
